Do You Guys Count Calories?
I have counted calories from day one and plan to do so forever.
The reasons I do this are simple for me.
3) My surgeon, like the American Heart Association, recommends 20 - 30% calories from fat. To know that I am complying with that daily, I have to log it in.
2) My surgeon recommends a minimum of 60 grams of protein daily. I have to read the labels and log that ANYWAY - so why not log the calories too?
and the biggest reason
1) It keeps me in check. I didn't gain all that weight overnight. If I were to regain, it wouldn't happen overnight either. It would start by me slipping back in 50 or 100 extra calories per day. Maybe an extra snack here or there.
If I track everything, I can watch for bad habits returning or easily pinpoint what may become problem behaviors. I will NOT be one of those people coming back on here saying that I've gained and getting replies to my post telling me to "start tracking everything". That won't happen to me because I plan to never STOP "tracking everything".
With this second chance I have been given at life, tracking calories is really not a lot to ask to keep from losing it again.
