Liquid Diet Update / Suggestions

Good morning everyone!

Originally I decided to post every day, but I've been extremely busy.  Honestly, I cheated a little but I hopped right back on the Liquid Diet Wagon.  Weight loss so far is 5 lbs.  I drink 3 protein shakes a day made with 1% milk, in between I have chicken broth, sugar free jello, coffee with creamer & tea.  Right now, I'm extremely hungry, I've had headaches almost every day & my energy is kinda low.  What do you guys think?  Should I start eating maybe 1 healthy meal (protein with veggies)? Maybe this will pass?  Any suggestions greatly appreciated.  Have a blessed day...

Maggie, at about the same time you started liquids, i started an altered form of nutri system. I eat an oatmeal or yougurt for BF, a nutri-system lunch, a fruit as a snack and dinner like a frozen meal nutri system or lean cuisine type and a nutri system snack. I am down 6 lbs. So it works, Nutri- system has too many carbs and sugars in many products, but it is working and i'm not starving. Liquids = starving.... I'm not into that any longer. Food can and does work if we can gain control and make the right choices. Much easier done then said!

Good luck, go eat a chicken breast and some spinach salad.
Peace and Blessings, Melinda

Maggie, are you doing the 5DPT or are you just doing a Liquid Diet.  I have scaled back on my eating and doing more liquid protein, but I do eat.  I have made the Ham & Split Pea Soup from the website and I have also made a Veggie Soup with kidney & black beans for protein.  Going without eating is not good, because the moment you do start the intake of food you will regain the weight.  How many liquid diets did you do before the surgery?  I would say eat sensibly and add your protein drinks throughout the day, exercise, drink your water and you should be fine.

Hi there,

About the same time I saw your post I wanted to try to get back on track too.
Maybe you aren't getting enough protein??  In addition to the 'shake' type protein drinks I found another brand Cytosport in watermelon flavor. I'm diluting with water to have between meals. (in addition to water & coffee) It has 40g protein in the 1 bottle and is very very good (just a bit sweet, that's why I'm diluting)

Just so you could see - I emailed with my dr and here's what he sent me:

High Protein Liquid Diet

It is recommended you use any one of the following protein shakes/drinks 3-6 times per day.

You may also use any drink you find so long as it contains less than 3-5 grams of sugar per serving.

Between meals you may drink as much as you like of WATER. Try to drink at least 64 ounces of water per day.

If you feel lightheaded or extremely tired you may have one of the following pieces of fruit: APPLE – BANANNA – ORANGE

Maggie,
could you please use a bigger font for us older eyes?
It's so hard to read that tiny font.
Don't know why the site even has such tiny fonts on it.
thank you so much.
