Encouragement

Hi y'all from Texas!

I just wanted to encourage everybody today.  I am 4.5 years out from gastric bypass.  I never did reach my goal, and for a while, I felt like a failure.  I had gone back to eating too many carbs, too much sugar, not enough protein.  Really, just not using the tool that I begged so long for!

I got on this board, and you guys really helped me bring the focus back to the essentials.  I'm back to drinking protein shakes for breakfast (Unjury protein is DELICIOUS, btw) and being aware of my food intake.

After a couple of weeks, I'm down 5 pounds.  Now, that doesn't seem like much, but after being at the same weight for SO LONG, it's pretty exciting.  It's also amazing to me that on my new smaller body, you can actually tell when I lose 5 pounds.

So this is all to say that the tool still works.  I'm still a slacker in the exercise department, but I'm working on that too.  It's a journey, it really is.

Thanks for your support.

Hi Corrie,

Thanks for sharing! I too am a ways out, February will be 5 years. :)

I kept yo-yo'ing with 20 lbs and wanted to get back on track.

I too never got down to my personal goal of 150 - 160 was the closest I've gotten.

I'm back on track and hope to get there by my 40th birthday (May)!!

5lbs is awsome!! Keep up the great work!

Congrats on being down the 5 pounds!  Continued success to you!

Good for you.  Congrats.  I'm 3 years post op and you're right, it is a journey - a lifelong journey.  I too drink protein drinks everyday - 2-3 per day and love them.  I think they really help to get in enough protein.  And let's not forget to drink - but not with meals.
