Need Help I may have possible blood clot!
Emily please go to the ER if you haven't yet. Not trying to scare you sweetie, but one of our friends from the Texas Message board passed away due to a blood clot just recently. Be demanding that you be seen. She went to the ER they gave her an IV for some dehydration and sent her home. She passed away 2 days later.
Sending up prayers for you this morning.

Definitely go to the ED if you haven't already. I had a massive dvt from my knee to my groin after surgery. Luckily, because of a family history of clots, I had my surgeon implant a vena cava filter prior to my gastric bypass. It's been 2 and a half years since surgery, and I have a second dvt in the same leg that was diagnosed in the ED last weekend.
Mine started as a painful area on my knee - thought I had hit it on something, but when no bruise appeared and the tenderness spread about 10" all around, I knew the gig was up. I put moist heat on the pain and the vein immediately became very red. There's a tremendous amount of swelling and redness and I've developed a hard area around my shin that gets more painful as the day wears on. I'm taking coumadin and oxycodone and try to elevate my leg when I'm sitting. The first time around I was in so much pain after surgery, I didn't walk right away. When I went home, the dvt worsened and progressed to extreme back and leg pain. It was during a physical therapy appointment for the back pain that it was diagnosed. It took 3 months to recover from that one. This time, I've continued my activities, though I've slacked off the gym because my leg is so swollen by the end of the day and I don't want to put pressure on it with the machines.
Do not wait. DVTs are nothing to fool around with and they are life threatening. If you feel the least bit of shortness of breath or headache, you should go right now. Good luck.
