help iron deficiency
My friend is in the process of getting iron infusions every week (she was that low). She had the DS about 5 years go. Her doctor told her that pills would not do it -- that she needed the infusions to get her where she needed to be and then the pills would help to keep her there.
Good luck. The iron infusions should make you feel better.

Hi
I'm having the same problem and was started on what the last writer said. Ferrous sulfate 325mg three times a day and you have to take the vitamin c 500mg with it. It takes a while to build your red cells back up, I was at 28 for my hematocrit and it took about a month and a half to come back up to almost normal. I'm still taking it twice a day now and also increased my sublingual B12 to 3000 to 5000 a week
Good luck, I hated being that tired :(

I'm not sure which of us you were addressing.
325mg of ferrous iron is about 65 mg elemental. The ferrous irons tend to be more brutal to the gut.
I take 300mg elemental iron, Tender Iron, with a vit C (and I take mine with copper). No change in gut or bowel.
Iron level remains around 90, ferritin around 200, has for years. I'm 14 yrs now from a distal RNY (kinda like a DS but with a pouch)

RNY, distal, 10/5/94
P.S. My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.
