What happened to me today?

I'm back from the doctors...

He said I probably was very close to fainting. He took my bp sitting, laying down and standing up. He said my blood pressure dropped significantly upon standing and feels that could be part of it. He wants me to up my water intake and drink a gatorade every day. He also wants me to get up slowly and check my blood pressure every day and log it. I go back next Fri to see my primary (I had to see his partner today).

He also ran tests to check my blood volume and my thyroid levels. I guess we'll see what happens. He wants me to continue this medicine that the doc gave me for headaches until I see my doc next week.

I've got alot of things that could be contributing to all this - and obviously weight loss this significant can be part of it. I've been having several issues with my bp since surgery so it's likely connected there somehow.

I guess we'll see!

Can I ask why you're taking BP meds?  They made me sick as a dog after my surgery, and I had to quit taking them after about 4 months.

My blood pressure got better about 3 weeks after surgery.. and then started going back up. :( They started me low at 10mg, then up to 20.. and now onto 40. It's still kinda high. I've got some pretty serious family history, so I'm assuming that's where it's coming from.

My Dad had high (super high 200s was normal for him) and my Mom has low orthostatic hypotension. I apparently inherited their health quite a bit.

I'm drinking more water and gatorade - still having headaches/migraines and dizziness. I go to see my doctor next week Fri. He'll probably adjust my meds then.

Oh and my thyroid levels came back normal! So that's not it.
