Hello everyone!!
I went to my surgeon about 2 months ago. I was doing well. he released me for 1 years. But now i am havein leg cramps at night for the past 3 days and i feel tired.  What type of blood work should my regular doctor be drawing to check my levels?? I am 1 year post  RNY.  I think i also have a hernia. I guess i need to make an appointment to see my regular doctor. i just needed some information. Thanks.

if you email me privately I can send you a list of labs to have run.

What is your supplement and eating regimen? Do you take iron? What kind, how much, how often, how taken? B12, same questions.

The leg cramps are most likely fixable with magnesium citrate (pills, not colon prep!)

P.S.  My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.

I too, had severe leg cramps, I've tried the pills and everything else (did you know that alot of pills just go right through us without even being absorbed?!  They pull thousands of pounds of pills from sewers every month.) I've been on a liquid supplement for over a year now - no leg cramps, and I'm not tired anymore (from anemia issues).  Shoot me an e-mail, and I'll get you more info. Lori

Personally when I get leg cramps its due to a few things... drinking too much diet soda (my surgeon allows for it so I dont need any lectures!), dehydration and lack of potassium. If you are drinking anything with caffeine try and cut it out or limit, up your water intake and potassium - you can google potassium rich foods (like kiwi) and/or add no-salt salt to crystal lite and make your own sports drink (no-salt salt has 650mg potassium per serving)... there are potassium suppliments but they are very low, you are better getting from food. You can also have cramps from lack of calcium so make sure you are taking the proper dosage of calcium citrate daily (bariatric advantage changed their dosage from 2 to 3 a day a few months back!).
