OT - Had to share

OMG!!!  Only when it's not happening to you is a story like this almost . . . funny!

When our son Matt was married 9 yrs. ago, as mother of the groom, I was only minimally involved--so when our other daughter Andrea got married 2 yrs. ago, I was shocked to realize all that was involved!  I thought we had a lot of stress w/ hers--just weird, unexpected stuff that none of my friends had experienced w/ their kids' weddings!  Plus, my daughter was unbelievably picky about everything and almost drove me insane.  So, going into another daughter's (Heidi's) engagement--not my idea of a fun year ahead!!!  In some ways, she is easier to work w/ than her sister, but in others, she's worse.  One of the hard things is that she's up in Chicago--and we (& the wedding) are down in south/central IL.  And she & I just don't in general get along as easily as I do w/ my other daughter.  UGH!!!!

How well I remember the vast relief I felt when Andrea's wedding was over--so I can totally picture you crashing w/ the biggest drink  you could find!!!    I'll feel the same at the reception next Aug. 1!!!  (I could totally understand your comment in your original post about being glad you only have one daughter--or you'd be tempted to send the next one to Vegas!!!

Thanks for sharing some of your disasters!!!  I guess when it all turns out, that's all that's important!  I'm so grateful that my husband & I love the mates all our kids have chosen!!!!

Always,
Jo

OH yeah...I forgot about Holly being Bridezilla...I finally,,,FINALLY got her to relinquish authority over the reception and the decorations. That's the only thing that saved my sanity. I knew what she wanted and got with my sister (she bakes for a living so she was up for it, AND she has parties all the time with 150 of her husband's friends adn business associates). My sister made the cupcakes and I bought the cupcake holders as payment. Plus the organza fabric too. She bought two cases of pre-made red velvet cupcakes from Ralphs (she works for them, so it was cost); she got the frosting for free and decorated all the cupcakes. She bought fake flowers and we pulled them appart for the center pieces. The cupcakes served as center pieces and she made a small cake for them to cut.

Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!
