Almost 4 years out - DH & I doing good
Just want to say HEY and send hugs to my fellow WLS grads.
I haven't posted in ages but want to get back online. As they say, it's been a long journey.
I can tolerate a little sugar, a little fat, but not much volume. DH can handle much more sugar, less fat, more volume than me (he is almost 3 years out). He has regained more weight than I did... now trying to organize himself to lose it.
I'm 58 years old. Had my surgery Dec. 2004 and had a good weight loss - went from 268 to 143. I went through the "honeymoon" period of eating (what seemed like) a lot while still losing weight - then reality hit. My weight slowly inched upward (and I was justifying it instead of dealing with it). But when I got weighed at my PCP's office and the scale said 162, I panicked. I've been through TOO MUCH to let myself slip back into oblivion - besides I didn't want to give up all these clothes! I cut back on the right things and made sure I ate an apple every day.
I have lost 9 pounds and feel good. Really, I've never been successful on a diet ****il now) but I think the tool is still there, and that helps a LOT.
How are YOU doing?? Any old-timers remember me? If not, drop me a line anyway.
Oh. And what are you wearing today? I'm wearing a skinny pink sweater, a purple/pink/green boucle knee-length skirt (no more hiding the legs), and mary-jane heels. I look good!
And as you know by now - our hair really does grow back!
Sending you all much love.

I will be four years Jan 2009. I went from 262 to 125 for about five minutes. I weight 138 today. I continue to try to get back to 125, but I do not think it is going to happen. (I had a knee injury Jan 2008 and quit exercising for several months, so the weight gain.)
My hair is still thin. I take biotin, zinc, Walmart' s hair, nails, skin vitamins, but still a bit thin. Went to a demotoligist (sp) who told me it is memophause, age and nature. He told me to quit worrying about it. He says not so bad, but I know how much I have lost, so.... I wear my hair pinned up, and it looks pretty good. I get comments on how good I look, but people are getting used to the new me and the comments have dropped off. I guess that is normal.
I still take lots of vitamins and drink protein drinks. I went on a cruise a few weeks ago. I ate whatever I wanted and did not gain, but not huge amounts. I can not eat much sugar without feeling bad.
Right now I am wearing PJ's, but I have cute jeans and other clothes, too. I got down to a size 8-10, but now I wear 10-12's. I am 63 and am 5'1"
