Best things about having WLS... xpost
Here are some of my favorite things ...
Resolved health issues ... Type 2 Diabetes, Sleep Apnea, Hemochromatosis, Cholesterol down over 100 points, No more joint pain in my knees, no more stress incontenance...
Improved Quality of Life ... My endurance had unfolded, there are sooooo many little things that I can do now that I couldn't before ... too many to list, but they are little things that make a huge difference my daily life. Just a few include the ability to tie my shoes and breathe at the same time, fit in a airplane seat w/out an extender and room to spare, shop at any store my wallet can afford because every 'designer' or brand makes something that fits me ... and soooo many more.
I look better ... in clothes anyways.
Please share your 'best things' about your journey too!

Denise,
Isn't it just amazing how many of those 'normal' things are the best things?

Never having to take prescription meds ... for diabetes, blood pressure or cholesterol again...Labs keep coming back perfect and so long as I take my vitamins...I'm doing wonderful
I am more self confident now... Where I used to fade into the background and get lost, I'm now standing up and standing out.
All the best things in life are now MINE! I love myself now...I deserve the very best.

No more Edema or Congestive heart failure. I can tie my own shoes, walk for miles, clean my house! I can cross my legs, wear strappy high heels for the first time in years. I fit in the bathtub and can get out, can kneel and get on the floor to play with the grands. I can walk through a turnstyle at my favorite store, wear clothes off the rack, no more queen size anything! I weigh less than my husband, can wear my granddaughters clothes, (shes 20).
Thats just the highlights! Needless to say, Id do it again in a heartbeat,,,,
Blessings
Betsy

Like others--no more pre-diabetes, no more high bp & high cholesterol Rx, no more depression Rx.
And as important as the above issues were, it's really the ordinary things of life that give me the biggest thrill. Just to feel "normal" (even though I have re-gained some weight) means so much. To know I can sit anywhere (broke 2 chairs pre-wls), shop anywhere, towel off after showering w/o getting sweaty all over again, get down on the floor to play w/ my young grandkids without having to crawl over to something to hoist myself back up, walk with a group of people and be able to keep up, cross my legs, re-gain a very neglected love life w/ my hubby, just blending in when I'm at a social event (knowing I'm not the thinnest but certainly nowhere near the fattest person there), etc., etc., etc.!!
I sometimes still just can't get over it all!
Always,
Jo
