Anyone ever try nutri system before or after WLS?
I am struggling with weight i have put back on, about 23 lbs. I try everyday and then cave in. It is like back to presurgery where it was all or nothing. I was thinking maybe nutri system may be a good option, as i wouldn't have to think about what to eat. It would be there for me to grab. Any thoughts? Anyone tried it? Thank you
Peace and Blessings, Melinda

Okay let's be pro-active here. Diets don't work. Life style changes do.
Are you exercising?
What are you eating?
Are you following the rules? No drinking 30 minutes before/after meals...are you drinking alcohol?
Come on you can take those 23 pounds off. I know you can!!

I did it years before having wls when I was in my 20's~I'm sure alot of things have changed by now, but I can remember feeling starving all the time! I did eat 3 meals and 2 snacks, but it wasn't enough for me I guess. I do have to say that I was very successful with while I was on the plan~I got to my lowest weight ever, although I started out at only 190lbs so I didn't have quite as far to go as I did with wls. I did gain it all back and then some as soon as I wasn't on their food anymore, so I guess it wasn't a successful plan for me. I have to agree with the above poster~there are more sensible ways to tackle 23lbs. Change up your diet and exercise routine, log all food at thedailyplate.com to see exactly how many cal/carb/pro your taking in daily, etc. I know from experience when I work my tool, my tool will still work for me! Good Luck to You!

You aren't going to be eating Nutrisystem for the rest of your life so I don't see this plan working. Whatever changes you make need to be life-long and permanent. If you need frozen meals, there are plenty of options with Amy's Kitchen being a favorite of mine. They have dinners in the 500 calorie range and don't have unrecognizable ingredient lists.
Sad to say, I think eating less and excercising more is the only realistic success option.

I agree with all of you. I am looking for something that takes no thought on my part to help me regain control and lose the weight fast. From there I will take over and control what i put in my mouth. Lazy i guess, but really i eat pretty healthy. Chocolate and carbs are my downfall, sometimes i will eat 4 minis in a day. But when i have gone back to basics.. i have noticed no change and i get frustrated and return to the junk. Do you think i should do all protein? i mean no one can deny fruits and vegies are healthy to, so i hate to do just that. I do not drink with or 30 minutes before or after meals. I need to increase exercise but can't at the moment....physicians orders. I seem to be hungry and teh 5dpt is a no wayer for me... never make it through day 1. Someone please tell me what to eat daily and i will do it. I just need someone to hold my hand through this. That is pitiful isn't it! Thanks for listening. Any volunteers for planning my eating daily???

I tried Nutri System three times before my WLS, over a span of 20 years or so. Lost 100 pounds on it twice! Gained it all back plus. Tried it again just before WLS, didn't lose anything, because the food DID taste like ass this time! I'm sure it was better before. Wound up giving away 3 weeks worth of yucky food. But if you look at the nutritional info, you can do just as well with a Lean Cuisine, etc. I would also be concerned about being able to eat some of the stuff (pasta, rice, bread, etc), and the quantities. I have a friend who was banded than did Jenny Craig about 4 years out. Then she got another fill, and was back to good restriction and couldn't eat most of it any more. Unfortunately, the band doesn't lend itself well to 'grab and go' food, since most of that kind of stuff is not good for us.
Try the 5 day pouch test and get that tool working again!!
