Anyone else struggling?

I know I've posted about this before, but it's rearing it's nasty head again. Is anyone a few years out and still struggling NOT to lose weight? I hit 100lbs last night, putting me at a pretty low BMI at 5'4". I eat all the time (and do like my nutritionist said - add fat and carbs wherever I can at this point) but it seems to be making it worse! I can't even get in to see my regular doctor until the end of next month to discuss labs or what I can do. It's all very frustrating.

Hi there.  I am 14 months out and struggling to keep it on too.   It is totally surreal sometimes.  I have to eat pretty constantly to keep above 115 now.  I usually maintain around 120.   I still dump pretty easily, cannot eat meat.  I am a size 2 or 4 and pretty tiny.  I love being healthier, but sometimes I would just love a cheeseburger u know?  Never again.  I feel your pain, my friend.  WOW, 100 pounds is too tiny.  Can you eat chocolate?  LOL  Best of luck and IM me if you want a new buddy!

Chocolate makes me sick unfortunately. I hardly ever dump though. I do eat cheeseburgers and such on the recommendation of the nutritionist just to get my weight up to 110 (then we start focusing on nutrition) but the highest I could get was 107, then it fell off.

I wish all I had to do was diet and exercise, like how it was to lose weight. I could do cardio all night if I had to, and I like low-cal foods, but have to fatten them up. I don't like the stuff I have to eat now.

I'm a size 00, or 23/24 in juniors, and this recent weight loss has made all my clothes baggy, even the XS stuff. I was going to go to the mall tonight for new jeans from the Buckle (because they seem to be the only ones to carry the smaller sizes) but made dinner instead.

I'm sure for people who are struggling just as hard to keep the weight off this sounds silly, but it's just as hard a struggle to keep it on. I'm fighting my body and don't know how to win.

Are you keeping track of your food intake and eating every couple of hours? My goal at a year out was to maintain and I've managed to add 5 pounds to my weight in 15 months. My issue is that I know I have to gain alittle but I'm afraid to.

My BMI is about 19. I'm 5 ft 5 inches tall and weigh (today) 124.8.

I exercise to put on muscle and weight but want to stay the same (basic) size.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Ya, I'm doing both. I eat something every few hours and also eat regular meals. My BMI right now is 17.2. I was working with a trainer to do weight training (absolutely *no* cardio as told by my nutritionist and the trainer) but we've fallen out of sync at the moment due to school and work.

My only hope right now is I met someone who does fitness modeling for a living and she has a very strict meal plan that's a lot like a RNY'ers, but with more calories. She may have some better shake ideas for me, and a meal plan. I can't seem to make any I can stand to drink more than a few sips of.

My surgeon's office has been pretty unhelpful for the few times I've talked with them. Basically I get the feeling they think I should be happy to be thin. I'm at the BMI now where I would be considered "anorexic", which I find appalling.

I was hoping to get into my doctor's office soon to ask about pancreatic enzymes (prescription because I don't trust OTC meds for quality control - doctor's kid here)... anyone ever tried those? They're supposed to help break up fats and carbs early in the digestive process so the calories and nutrients are absorbed better by patients with cystic fibrosis, but I've also heard of them used for gastric bypass patients too. Maybe I can get in to see her PA sooner. I don't think this can wait another month. I don't know if it's the RNY or something else going on, especially because I'm eating so much.

I was thinking from the health food store..They have those shakes that the weigh trainers use to bulk up...TONS of calories and carbs because they usually work off the calories too fast to keep any weight on...Same as you.

I'm on the edge of where you are and I managed to stop the losses so far. I still get comments from friends and family about "don't lose anymore" but I like the size I am, I just don't like the number on the scale.

I keep track of when and what I eat so that if the time creeps up to three hours between snacks, I know it's me that caused the losses and not that I'm eating and not maintaining. I find being obesessive about this helps me to keep control of it.

I tried those:  The ones that are 700 calories per scoop like Mega Mass XXX?  (I call them Beefcake 4000).  ANYWAY, they made me dump something awful.  The primary ingredients are Dextrose, Maltodextrin and a lot of other sugars.  Too much for me to handle.

I found that a Starbucks Mocha Frappucino (with Whip) worked better as it had 500+ calories and enough fat to temper the sugars so I did not dump.

Oh the irony!

Ya, that's the major problem with the weight gain shakes - the sugar content is crazy! The one I could find that had low sugar needed, like 4 heaping scoops to get to 800 calories, and it required drinking so much there was no way to do it.

What exactly is a Frappucino? I'm not big on Starbucks, but there's one right next to where I work. I usually go to a local coffee house and get a strawberry white chocolate mocha every morning.

The Frappucino is a blended iced coffee drink.  A Coffee Slushie if you will.  There isn't anything special about that drink over others with lots of fat and calories.  You could go to any shop and start asking: What has THE MOST calories?  Which, I know, is probably opposite to the thinking you did all your life.

I found that FAT is needed to slow sugar absorption to avoid dumping.  I also eventually stablized and discontinued the daily Frappucinos.  One of the reasons I went that route was so that I had something that I could put a hard stop to when needed.  I found it easier to say "No Frappucino" compared to having to say, "I will just get by with less...."

I guess I'm a yes/no thinker.

You can buy digestive enzymes at any reputable vitamin store or on-line. Pancreatic enzymes (or protease) are for digesting protein, while there are others, to help you digest carbs, fats etc. You can buy all of these combined in a "formula" or "combo" supplement, so you are taking all of them at once.
Yes, they do help you get more nutrition out of your food. They also help with dumping, (if you dump). Here's a link to one the products I was talking about:
http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp? id=SR-5130
You don't need a prescription for these. A lot of people take them and your doc just might tell you to buy them over the counter anyway. Do they sell RX digestive enzymes? Don't know...but you can buy them at GNC, Vitamin Shoppe etc.
