Most surgeons recommend a minimum of 60 grams per day.

My surgery was actually 24 yrs ago...

Recently I had a lot of labs run, discovering many vitamin, iron, protein, albumen....etc deficiencies....

So....I am trying to get these levels up by using supplements and protein drinks....for the first time in 24 years....

I have been doing about 120 or more of protein and am concerned that some of this protein may turn to sugar in my body if I am consuming too much.

Does anyone know about such a thing?

Thank You,

MM

The science of that sounds a little shaky.

I eat 120+g protein a day-- and I feel quite well. It's about 40% of my diet-- or 10% of my calories, most days.

Thank you to everyone for your input.....

I also just found this information.....don't remember where I actually got it....but it sounds good:

Protein needed
According to Sally Myers, RD and regular contributor on nutritional issues to the WLS-related newsletter “Beyond Change”: “How to determine grams of protein you need daily when not yet at ideal weight: Subtract 120 from your current weight. Multiply that answer by .25 and add it to 120. Base your protein needs on that number. Extra protein is not needed for fat mass.”

So...it sounds like a minimum of 120 grams of protein.....

My NUTs plan is
to lose weight
40%protein 30% carbs 30% fat
to maintain 30%protein 40% carbs 30% fat
it will really depend on how many calories you are eating. You can go online and see whats reccomended for a 'normal' person of your age/weight/height etc... I personally would never go below 60 but aim for the 80-100g range.

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)

Extended TT, lipo, fat injections - 11/2011

BA/BL/Arm Lift - 7/2014

Scar revision on arms - 3/2015

HALO laser on arms/neck 9/2016

Thigh Lift 10/2020

Thigh Lift revision 10/2021
