For some people that will work but for others, it's totally individual. I will lose a pound or two if I eat only 1500 calories a day for a week...pretty much guaranteed but others can eat 1000 a day and still not lose..Individual results will vary.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

There is no set rule, because our bodies are different.

My resting metabolic rate was tested at 1680. This means that if all I did was lie in bed all day breathing and staring at the ceiling, and ate 1680 calories, I would neither gain nor lose weight. With even moderate activity that number increases. To lose weight, I need to stay beneath it, which I do-- considerably-- at 1200 calories per day. Eventually my goal is to get my RMR and consumption about even. As I approach my pre- plastics goal, I am slowly increasing my intake, even as my RMR decreases-- and eventually they will balance.

An easy rule of thumb-- if you want to generalize--- would be that to maintain any given weight you need to consume about ten times that in calories-- so if you are 140 you need 1400, and so on. To gain, increase it, to lose, decrease it and/or increase your activity level.

Absolutely...I can't drop below 1500 calories for a week and NOT lose weight. That's just me. Other people gain at 1200 calories a day, it's crazy but that's the way it works.

Now that is a new use for TVP (my favorite food on earth!) I'm gonna need that recipe!

You did awesome. I'm writing down the recipe for the pumpkin protein cheesecake pudding...That's gonna be on my table at Thanksgiving this year!

I eat it with the lemon chicken-- it's great!

TVP Faux Chicken Fried Rice

1 cup TVP
1 1/2 cups hot chicken stock
1/4 cup egg beaters
1 large can of chicken (not tuna can size, next bigger)
minced garlic
light soy sauce
a couple shallots
snowpeas minced very small
(Any veggies would work-- especially bamboo shoots and mushrooms and water chestnuts, peas, baby corn, etc.)

Heat the chicken stock, add TVP and let it soak it up. In frying pan, use cooking spray, then lightly scramble the egg beaters. Add veggies and stir fry egg and veggie mix . Add TVP to eggs, with remaining ingredients--add soy salt to taste.

As above-- 1/2 cup (Yields 3 cups):
115 cals/ .78 fat/ 6.6 carbs/ 18.5 protein

Killer, huh? ;)
