I'm sure you all have been asked this question 100 times.  If u had to do it over again, would you choose the same surgery?

In a heartbeat.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Before Surgery: 214
Highest Weight: 240
Now: 125.6

Thanks for your response.  We are similar in that I weigh about 212 and my highest was 240.  You look taller than me though.  I'm 5'2".  Oh to be 120 again!

I am a bit taller. 5 ft 5. After a year or when you hit goal, it's mostly mental and how determined you are to keep the weight off. I've seen people gain back tons of weight. I've seen them slip up and all of a sudden feel they've failed..I decided right off the bat that I was not going to be in that group. I do occasionally feel freaked out but I'm OCD over my food and my weight now. Some people don't want to be that way but I figure I went through the trauma of major surgery (it's not like a root canal, it's major), why would I not if I can keep a handle on it now?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOOOOOOVEEEEEE my DS. I'd do it every year for the rest of my life if I had to.....IT'S BEEN FANTASTIC!!!!!

Would I do it again...ABSOLUTELY!!!! I've lost just over 300 lbs and have maintained my weight loss really easily. If I had another surgery (RNY or VSG) i can tell you for certain, I would not have been able to maintain my weight loss.

Yes. My only complaint was that i could not have done it sooner.
I get flamed for letting my two girls have it also.
I would have loved to have had it when i was 19...

their whole lives are in front of them. Yes they may have malabsorption and other problems down the road, we just do not know.
We do know what they would have been facing with the weight.
Hang in there everyone.
