Feeling Silly - Accidentally Swallowed Gum Today

I'm 3 years post op and have developed the bad habit of chewing gum lately.  Well, today for the first time in my life (as far as I can remember) I accidentally swallowed the gum.  Anyone have experience with this?

I feel so silly about it.  I do everything right  with eating, drinking, etc., but now this gum thing.

Thanks,
Linda

I think you will be fine, as long as you are able to get things down alright since that happened. I swallowed a cherry pit my self a while ago, scared me, but nothing bad happened. I also am addicted to chewing gum, so far haven't swallowed that.

You could have worse habits than chewing gum.

Don't beat yourself up! I'm sure it wasn't like four pieces of Bazooka gum, not a giant wad of pink stufff that could get stuck in there. (and seriously, how could you accidently swallow that thing anyway? LOL) Probably a stick of that sugar free mint gum that when it gets chewed is about quarter of a dime size...It's tiny! It's not going to cause a problem..

If you have issues with eating something after and it hurts, then you can worry. I'm predicting you'll be just fine..

Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Hey Linda, I'm sure it will pass thru fine, espcially at 3yrs out. I think the no gum thing is more for newbies, but if it gets stuck I've read about all sorts of remedies, LOL!! I think the warm water mixed with meat tenderizer is the most appealing one~NOT!!!! But hey, if ya had to do it you could!!! I'd probably opt for a nice hot cup of tea!!! Good Luck!!!
