Feeling full/satisfied
I am 17 months out, and doing pretty well. Went to the nutritionist's the other day and found that I lost another pound. Looking now to really stabilize my weight, but will take any loss that comes along! I'm not where I would ideally like to be, but I'm also at the stage where people are saying "STOP"! (They just don't get it do they?)
Anyway, as I said, my goal now is to maintain and to try and make all of what I do "normal" and somewhat "routine". One of the things I've had problems with is finding things that make me feel full and satisfied. Usually I eat what I've allotted in terms of protein and cals, but often I'm not satisfied.
Today I tried something that seems to work - hopefully it will for a long time; it's the Kashi GoLean hearty oatmeal. The cereals don't do it for me, but this oatmeal is great!
What fills you up/satisfies your hunger?

I find that I am satisfied as long as I stick to solid proteins and veggies, and keep my carbs under 40 g for the day. It cuts my hunger like magic! But, if I start eating cereal and crackers again, the hunger comes back right away and I have a hard time feeling full. I like braised meats and vegetables, like beef bourguignon or goula****'s very satisfying, easy to eat, and doesn't take much to fill me up.
When you say you keep your carbs under 40g/day, does that include carbs from vegetables?

Anything with dense protein fills me up the best! I do alot of chicken breast or shaved deli chicken breast on a bed of lettuce with cheese, a few croutons and some ranch just about every afternoon for lunch. I'm not a low carb'er so the oatmeal would be fine for me. I keep a pretty busy workout routine and going that low on carbs wouldn't give me the fuel to burn in my workouts. I do have to admit that at about 18mths I did get alot more hungry and could eat alot more at a sitting. I know its scary, but its all part of the process. Keep up the good work!!!
