Calories
Hi Misty,
I am the same amout out from surgery as you. My date was very close to yours! Congrats on your weight loss. As far as hunger goes make sure you are doing protein first and choosing the right type of carbohydrates. White, refined carbs such as white flour, sugar, pasta, rice, bread, tortillas, etc will cause your blood sugar to spike and then crash and leave u hungry again in a hour or two after your meal. By eating protein and whole grain sources (think "white is not right") such as brown rice, whole grain pasta, bread, toritllas.. look for high fiber counts and many times these items will have added protein such as La Tortilla tortillas.. 50 calories and lots of fiber and protein.
As for how many calories I think everyone is different depending on sex, age, muscle tone, activity of every day life, their jobs etc. You should get your metabolism tested to see what it is accurately in order to maintain your weight. This can be done many times at gyms, wellness centers or even your physician or bariatric surgeons office.. just ask around. It is simple and costs around 60-100 dollars and all you do is breath into a machine while you sit real still and its hooked up to a computer and it spits out the info. It's pretty amazing.
Otherwise I have heard that a good rule of thumb is take your weight x10 for sendtary lifestyle or 12 for moderate or 15 in the case of an athlete to get your maintenance calories..
Hope this helps and hey... come on over to the december 2006 board, we would love to have you, awesome folks there, me included ;) haha...
