I would  love to hear from those who have lost down to their goal, then gained 50 pounds back. I need to know how to lose these unwanted pounds.  Yes, I know to exercise more and eat less but if anyone has a story to tell I'd love to hear it. More soon!        From Kathy

I'm not sure what type of surgery you had, but as a soon-to-be-former-bandster, I would talk to your doctor.  There are any number of issues that could be causing the gain, from pouch enlargement to hormones to, as you know eating too much and not enough exercize.  And you probably have options you might not know about.  Don't wait like I did.  3 years of my life has passed me by because I just didn't want to face a doctor about my situation.  I wish you the best of luck.

I can't help you..as I'm trying to lose 90 lbs... 30 of which is a regain from my lowest.. however, my niece got to goal, gained 30 lbs and is now a little below goal... she has a husband that cooks amazing food everynight. So what she does is keeps her calories below 500 during the day and then she can eat what she wants with him at night (one meal, not snacking all night) but her pouch won't hold enough to make her go over a maintenance/weight loss limit. That is working for her. And she's done great. I'm trying to figure out how to do that for myself.. my first goal is to get back down to my lowest weight, then I'll work on getting to goal.  But I've developed some bad habits, that are going to be difficult...DIFFICULT to break....

Good luck!

I'm in the same boat!  I thought I could go back to my old habits when I got pregnant with my second child and then couldn't get the weight off afterwards.  My daughter will be three in November and I'm still up 40 pounds from my lowest.  It's very depressing.  They told me the surgery wouldn't fix my head and it's so true!!!

I'm still so much healthier than I was before.  I exercise every day.  I just need to get back in control of my eating.  I know the tool still works if I use it.  I did the 5 day pouch test and it worked wonders!  But then I went back to my emotional eating.  Someone said we keep doing what we are doing until it hurts less to change than it hurts to stay the same.  I guess that's true.  I cannot blame anyone but myself.

Best of luck to you!!!

Your story sounds just like mine. I was at goal pre-pregnancy. I have a 28 month old and have regained 42 pounds from my lowest. I have heard that pregnancy hormones that cause your uterus to stretch can also stretch your pouch. It reall sucks. I do have to admit I don't walk daily like I used to. I have been thinking about sclerotherapy, stomaphyx or other procedures. i haven't been to a surgeon about this yet though. good luck.

Hello there,

This is my first time to use this sight.  I wrote in the other night  that I also have gained wiejght
since my surgery 5 years.  Yes, I'm so much healithier than what I was but do not want
to regain any weight back.  What is the 5 day test?    What's it suppose to do? What info do you
get from doing this?  I'm not sure how to use this sight but I'll submit this and see what happens.

Vickie--sorry about the bogus website--try this instead:  www.5daypouchtest.com.  That should do it!  If for some reason this doesn't come up right, just google it, and it will take you to the site.

Always,
Jo

HI there!  I know how you are feeling.  I have had two post-op pregnancies and gained a good amount of weight with each of them.  My lowest post-op weight was 150 pounds and after having my 2nd son my highest weight was 194 pounds.  In the past 6 months or so, I have gotten from 194 to 168 pounds.  My goal is to get to 140.  So I've lost 26 out of the 54 I want to lose.  Basically to lose weight I've tried going back to basics.  During my pregnancies and in the months after giving birth I ate way too much of everything.  Too much fast food, too many sweets, too much iced tea.  Now I eat three small meals plus two snacks a day.  I eat protein at every meal, plus some fruits, veggies, and whole grains every day. My morning snack is always just a protein shake and my evening snack is usually a string cheese and a piece of fruit. I drink ONLY water.  I find that even drinking Crystal Light causes me to overeat so I stick just to the water.  I also walk or do an exercise dvd 4-5 days a week.  It was really hard getting back into eating well, but the longer I do it the easier it is.  Plus seeing the weight loss is great motivation.  Good luck!
Blessed mommy of two boys!
