First Day of Liquids

I sort of hijacked Mels post about wanting to eat everything, so I thought I would start a new thread.  I'm 13 months post-op and starting three days of liquids to help cut out my bad habits and give myself a fresh start.  At exactly 6 months post-op I woke up completely hungry.  I mean it, not head hunger, my body was physically hungry.  It's felt like a struggle since that day.  I haven't gained, but I can tell that I will gain if I don't get back to basics.

It makes me so sad that I wasn't one of the ones that was able to completely change my relationship with food.  I felt that I had changed for a while, because I would eat fresh fruit instead of candy or other sweets.  That progressed just like any other food addiction would in my life.  Before I knew it I was eating like five pieces of fruit a day - which means less room for protein.  I've started using fitday.com again.  I hate hate hate logging my food, because I feel I obsess about it more.  I'm logging my food, because I know I need to see the total numbers at the end of the day and the carb percentage compared to fat and protein.

I suppose this is my journey.  It's certainly not easy, but it is my journey to do what I will with it.  The good news is that I am exercising, so all is not lost.  Wish me well on three days of liquid.

Hi,

I am 13 months post-op this month too.  I have had times when I felt like I could eat ,and eat, and eat, not all in one sitting, but then sometimes I feel like I could hardly eat at all.  I just take one day at a time.  I definitely stay away from sweets and bread.  When I do treat myself to something as far as a bgr, or some kind of side dish I just eat in moderation.  So far I am actually still losing.  I did have an extra procedure done along with my RNY, my surgeon put an extra band around my new stomach(not the lap band)it is made out of some kind of mesh material in which my pouch will only stretch but so far, so I still feel like am restricted as I did in the beginning.  I can eat a little more some days than others.  If am able to eat my food, without feeling an enormous amount of restriction, that is a good day.  I had a good day yesterday.

I'm cheering you on!  How did you do today?  Keep me updated.   I'm doing well, but I expected today to be easier than the days to come.  The true test begins tonight when ordinarily the snacky-snacky monster would be on my back.  I've made plans to exercise with my dh tonight, which should help.  Are you exercising?

Awesome!  I know that better restriction is possible, so I'm hoping to reclaim some of that after a few days of liquids.  Most of my problem is my own fault.  Yes, I got hungry at about 6 months post-op, but I've got some bad habits that need to be nixed before they become huge problems.

Beeg, as you know, I'm 13 months out, and still losing, albeit verrrrry slowly. I have tracked my intake since Jump Street, kept a balance of 40% protein/ 30% carbs/ 30% fat, and so far haven't had any problems-- so I hope not to have to resort to restarts and pouch tests and the like. I wish you the best of luck, and agree with you-- accounting works!

I'm just thankful that I can restart - that I don't have to go on a diet.  I'm just getting back to basics to ensure I'm eating healthy and staying on track.
