Monday was my birthday! We really celebrated over the weekend, but I also took the morning off and went to my two favorite classes at the gym (fitball and step). That felt really great.

I ate kinda crazy yesterday and really was beating myself up about it... You know that whole cycle--I ate something yucky, I feel bad about it, I might as well eat something else yucky and feel worse about it. But then, once I entered in my food, I see that I didn't do THAT terribly... I really, really, really wish I knew the cure for tired and/or emotional eating (besides hard work! hee hee). Well, today I have my trusty banana, so I'm sure I'll be fine. :-)

Half-marathon in five days! :-)

 trusty banana and triskets!!!

I don't know if we will ever be over the emtoional eating thing. I think its like an alcholic, always has to stay away from alcohol.  But we are changing...we do see it, and that in itself is victory where as before we were blind to it!

The stress at work is bad on paydays, even if I'm not involved anymore...But we have this group of people who just have to be .. well. buggers. So I'm working on letting it go.  so dawn,,,,what do you do for YOU?  With all the stress of life and especially when its crowding into our minds....we have to have some self care time. Whether its soaking in the tub, getting your nails done, shopping, having a latte with a good book. You cannot lose yourself in all this.....ok?
hugs to you!

Sadly, I don't do that much for myself anymore. I need to. It's going to be some time before I can get around all this cuz I'm accomodating my husband who is flipping out just now because of up coming cataract surgery...He's afraid he's old now (?) and that I'll probably leave him (?) and that he's a burden on society (?) but that's just one small thing...The daughter's wedding in October and her reception and the fact that she's become Bridezilla lately...that's another thing. then work...We don't even need to get into work....LOL

so, of course, I put myself on the back burner until late fall, possibly Christmas but we're talking about what we can do in the mean time.

yikes!!! You will whither up into a ball if you wait till all these things are done!  Dawn...just one little thing for yourself....get off out of the house and get a latte or something. If you don't you will hurt yourself. meaning that your husband and daughter will leach everything ounce of good and strength out of you and you will break in some way.
In the same way we take vitamins l ike calcium and keep our protein up so calcium and protein are not leached out of our bodies......
I will be praying for you Dawn. We cannot lose ourself in all that goes on around us.  I am in a boat where my marriage is the worst it has ever been. Lots could leach me too....and I can't allow that because I will be no good to anybody.  Same with you!
hugs.....now about that latte...or should I say Hawaiin punch?

YOu definitely have a point there and I do try. Tonight we're going to the fair to go see the 4H animals and the displays and such...Sunday we walked around Ventura Harbor and I did some shopping. I even got some Sugar Free candy from a vendor there...We do relax but I know what you mean. It's weeks of sheer terror and then the weekends I get some of a break...I definitely pick and choose my battles around here. Thanks!

Hi

I was reading what you had to eat it's great to see that you eat so well.. I originally weighed 218 and went down to 141 and now I weight 148.. my goal was 135 and I can't seem to go past 140.. at this point I can't get down from 148.. I feel very depressed about it and when I feel down I want to eat.. I am 3 years post op and concerned that the weight will slowly come back.  I work out regularly, I do a very high impact zumba class which I know is great for me.. I feel healthy but know I don't eat like I should..
I have a protein shake in the morning,
peanut butter on wheat toast for snack
1 cheese stick (later snack)
sometimes I skip lunch
then I snack again on cheese or peanuts
for dinner I will eat beeft stew (mostly sauce and a few potatoes) or chili or some other meat substance in sauce.. I include a salad..
I have a hard time figuring out what to eat for dinner so I will settle for a cheese stick or eat something that I shouldn't.. I guess I"m just upset with myself that I no longer am being consistent and that frustrates me.
I guess I just wanted to share this with you, since your post has really motivated me to do something about my eating habits.
thanks for sharing
Monica

cheese is okay for a snack but you really should eat dense protein (meat) for a dinner. I find that it sticks with me alot longer than cheese does and so I'm not so hungry so quickly. I also wrap a piece of lunch meat around it. My fav is turkey ham but salami is good too. I can't go more than a few hours without eating something.

I don't pretend to be an expert on this stuff but I know what works for me. Since you're exercising, you're probably more muscle than I am...I just walk and not too much but I do move around more than I ever used to.
