Severe Stomach pain cause???

Hi All,

Looking to see if anyone else has experienced something similiar to my latest intestinal pain. I read Sally's ordeal, and since mine only lasts for about 5 mins max and days apart, until this week, I don't think I have an obstruction, but I'm stumped otherwise.

I had my gallbladder removed in March. About 2 months ago I started waking up with severe stomach pain - It ramps up from nothing to I'm almost in tears in 30-60 second and then the pain lasts for up to 5 minutes and goes away. I almost always inhale 2 Rolaids that include gas relief. If I can burp a few times that seems to let the pain ease quicker. It seems to be happening more often so I told my PCP and he prescriped Protonix. That's made it worse - I've woken up 5 of the 7 days I've taken it with an attack.

Anyone with similiar issues and/or answers?

Thanks!

Sorry to hear you are having pain. Are you able to go back and see your surgeon to see if it is related to your surgery. Maybe adhesions pulling on insides causing the sproadic pain?

Ouch!  Could you possibly have an ulcer?  Mine flare up now and then but I take daily meds for it and usually it remains controllable.  If I don't get some Carafate susp. down as soon as i feel it flare then it will have me doubled over within about 5 minutes.  There have been times the pain was so severe it'd take my breath away.

Hope you can find some relief soon!

I sure hope you find out what this is. Please keep us posted. As you've read, abdominal pain is not to be ignored. Get to the bottom of it, please!

With the DS: there is no stoma, so no stoma strictures; there are no limitations (other than volume) against drinking before, during or after meals; 80% of ingested fat is malabsorbed; 98.9% of type II diabetics are CURED of this devastating disease, with data showing stable cure over 10 years out; there is the best average weight loss and most durable (average 76% excess weight loss going out 10 years) of all of the bariatric surgeries.  That's why I had a DS!

Well, I called the nurse in charge of the Bariatric program and she thinks it may be esophageal spasms, but when Iooked them up my symptoms don't really match. Got a hold of the surgeon's nurse and she's going to pass along the symptoms to him and find out if he wants a CT now or wait until I see him on the 10th for my annual follow-up. I'll let you know what he says.

I had my gallbladder out 10/06 and then had the same symptoms.  Mine was a dysfunctional sphinter of ode.  It is a bile duct the lead out the pancreas.

Oh - I sure hope that's not it. I was put on Protonix by my PCP and it made it a lot worse. Was having an attack about every 1-2 weeks the 10 days I was on Protonx I had one more nights than not. I see my surgeon on the 10th so it will be interesting to see what he says.

Thanks for the reply - at least it gives me something to research.
