Fruit carbs cause white carb cravings?

I'm wondering if I'm shooting myself in the foot by eating so much fruit.  I'm trying to eliminate the white carbs (popcorn and pretzels) and have replaced them with fruit.  Fruit has the good carbs but do they cause carb cravings?  Should I cut back on them until I'm more stable in my eating again?

Three servings of fruit a day would be more than enough. Don't know if they would cause carb cravings, but they do have natural sugar and calories. So too much could lead to weight gain. Try and use the lowest calorie fruits and add fresh vegeables, they are carbs also and don't have the amount of natural sugars like fruits.

Calories are calories, wether from good or bad foods. I would suggest eating protien  snacks. They are probably the best thing to eat to stop your cravings for carbs.

Yes - true, calories are calories.  The sugar and calories could be adding to my problem.  So, protien snacks, such as?

Protein snacks such as:  cheese sticks, nuts, jerky, peanut butter on rice cakes, & protein shakes.

I might  suggest a slice of deli turkey rolled around a slice of LF cheese, or another type of low fat deli meat. Or maybe 1-2 oz tuna mixed with LF yogurt. You get the idea.

i do not know about cravings, but I noticed recently that bananas are high in carbs.  I hate to say this but peanut butter and nuts are some of the foods that if I start eating , I can not stop.

What's a girl to do?   Don't ask me!!!   I still drink a lot of protein drinks.  It seems to help, but I struggle with weight gain.  I know I need to exercise more.  I walk daily, but I need to get to the gym.

Hi Ruby,

I'm OT here, but noticed while reading this post, that you and I are in a similar place and wanted to get a little feedback...Our surg dates are a few months apart, start weight within pounds, lowest reached also within pounds and amount regained also within pounds...It make me curious, what do you feel triggered your little regain?  At first I was just blowing it off as acceptable because my surgeon said 10-15% regain around 2-3 years is common, but I don't really want to accept that...The thing is I am really struggling to get off the 10-15lbs I regained - cannot seem to crack 135 again...

Can you relate?

Thanks, Alesia

Boy do I know where you are coming from!!  My size 8 pants are too small.  it makes me sick.  My DH says I have gained it all in my bottom.  i hate the regain and refuse to accept it, but....  I had a knee injury in January and spent 8 weeks in physical therapy.  Also i had a revision to some plastic surgery.  The two items made me stop going to the gym.  I was taking power and spinning classes.  I can not make myself get back to the gym on a regular basis.  I walk about 2 miles a day on a regular basis, but that is not enough to get the weight back off.  I think the spinning classes had a lot to do with helping me to keep the weigh off, but my doctors tell me to stay away from them.  Really I have been to a few classes, but can not get the desire to go back on a regular basis.  I had an upper endoscopy (sp) and was told my stoma is enlarged so my food goes through too fast and I can eat more.  I guess a combination of items makes it hard for me to keep the weight off.  I know I am going to have to work at this thing all my life.  I know I should be thankful for the weight I am and be thankful for it, but I can not let go of wanting to get back to 125.  I am only 5'1"   i still drink protein drinks, take vitamins etc.

What has been your situation/?
