Regain at almost 2 years out

Hi,
I'm with you! To say I'm miserable is just an understatement. For months now I've been off-track. Like Special K said the old habits, one by one returned. I'm just so disappointed in myself. Everyday, in the morning I say, this is the day I do well, then by evening it falls apart. I'm in the exact same predicament as you. But look at Char she's lost 30 of the 42 lbs she's gained. I need major support, too. For years I've been a lurker on this "GRAD" site, no more, I've got to get active and involved. Why? Because I need major & intense help.
I do believe journaling is a wondeful tool. They say we have a great tool with our GBP but, right now I don't see how, I can out eat anyone with any type of food.
Here are a few of my goals:
1.Daily submit alittle something of support to others on this board.
2. Daily submit my food intake on this boards accountability.
3. Write in my weight on this boards Friday's Weight-Ins
4. Knock off eating the white carbs and sugar
5. Some type of exercise 60 minutes 5 times a week
6. Get plenty of Protein and water

I need a buddy I guess. Good luck,

Kathy,
I'm going to start submitting my daily food intake and weekly weigh ins on the accountability threads as well.  I've been recording my food intake on thedailyplate.com but now I realized  haven't shared much about my diet with OH members.  God luck with acheiving your goals.

MAJOR help can be found by attending support group meetings. They offer advice and personal experiences from other post ops though issues past surgery. I attended support groups for the first 7 months post op, and I'd lost about 120 pounds in the RNY process to that date. I thought I'd reached my goal wt, now weighing 225. I stopped meetings, and tended to "stray" from protocol. I got on the scale 2 months later and I'd gained 20 pounds. I started attending support groups, did Internet research about vitamins and healthy foods, and at 2 years 3 months post op, I've now lost almost 160 pounds, down to 188.   I did lost wt too between 18 months and today's date. In May, 2008 I celebrated a couple of WOW moments. I got to under 200 pounds, and I'd lost 150 pounds. I've lost another 8 pounds in the past 3 months too, so anthing is possible. Watch what you eat, take good vitmamins, watch our lab results to see if your vitamins levels are at OK levels, exercise, drink fluids, eat healthy snacks, etc. My profile page documents my pre and post op process with wt gain and wt loss. RNY is great, but part of the process is your "mental control" over the whole process. The surgery is a great tool for wt loss, but it boils down to decisions you make to your overall wt loss. Good luck. DAVE

Welcome back to the best thing that ever happened to me.  Reading these boards daily reminds me of what TO do and what NOT TO do.

I never lost all of my weight.  I plateaued at 210 and haven't lost a drop since.  About a month ago, I started gaining.  In all, I gained 8 pounds.  Finally, I just snapped.  I wasn't going to go down that path.

Since I seemed hungry ALL the time, I finally realized my empty carbs were out of control.  I eat about 70-100 g protein a day and I keep my carbs about equal to that.  So around 70-100 g carbs a day.  My net calorie intake is around 1200, more if I exercise.  Cutting down the empty carbs has completely taken away the endless need to munch, graze, and eat.  It's fascinating to me what this approach does for me.  Back before surgery, I did Atkins, which has the same effect, but the extreme principles of Atkins wore thin for me.  So I guess what I do is more of a South Beach thing.

Good luck!!!  Coming back here is one of the greatest things to do.  The support, knowledge, and experience is wonderful here.

Hey,

Me too, I haven't been on here in months.  I have just re-gained like 7-10lbs, and its driving me nuts!!  I am sooo scared, and so today just happens to be my 3 yr post op appt.   I am going to ask the doctor about the procedure where they put a few stitches in the stoma, for RYN, and it makes the opening much more tightened, not relaxed.   Anyway, I am going back on all liquids, protein shakes, nectar, etc....because I cannot gain weight back!!

I was freaking at my trying on clothes this morning to find things that were loose just last month, to be tight today!!

I just need to get on here more, and we can all support each other.

I told myself, well, you have made it this far, and you are not going back, so I have to work now to make it go back down.

I have had major depression though in the past few months, quit my job about 3 months ago, and now I regret it so much, but I know they would not take me back....and to make it worse, I cannot find another job!!

I am also home alone a lot, my husband is ALWAYS gone, so I just have had my 2 sons home for the summer from college, and they are eating junk food, and I cooked loads of meals when they were home, so I know I need to just purge the house (I don't eat a lot of junk....but just need to not have chips or crisps of any kind).

So, I also was taking premarin and another drug that causes weight gain, and have come off of those now, so hopefully that will help in getting the weight back off.

Take a look at your diet, and see where you can improve it.   Have you started new medications?  Have you done anything different that can make you gain weight??  Do you graze??

Eat more veggies, like carrot and celery sticks, and get back on protein nectar and you can get it off!!  you did it before, and we have a tool that bypasses lots of intestines, so we should be able to lose it faster than someone who never had the surgery....just use your tool!

Good Luck, and this was as much for me as it was for you!

Does that 25lb regain put you as overweight? Did your weight drop very low and then you come back up? Are you still gaining or are you easily able to maintain the 25lbs?
If you know you gained the weight because of your own actions then its time to address that. If you regained and are still a healthy BMI and can maintain the weight then I would say you are at your bodies happy point.
Really need more inforamtion. Also - have you address with surgeon? Seen your NUT?
