Hi Everyone,

I am so sad right now, I don't know what to do.  All my life I felt like I just never fit in anywhere.  Everytime I get a job, I do my job beyond what I have to do, but I always get the **** end of the stick.  Over 2 years ago I was out of a job, I do Office work.  I kept going on Interview after Interview but I know why I wasn't hired because of my weight.  Anyway, I went to a Temp agency and they found me this job, and my boss here was so nice, and so layed back.  Anyway,  he was married for 20 years and this girl Jan who he was messing around with, he finally left his wife for her.  About 7 months after I started here she came to work with us here at the company.  She was so nice to me at first, and so was everyone else, but after I started losing the weight, she started doing things to lie on me, and my boss is so memorized by her, he doesn't see what she is doing, now she has gotten him to be mean to me.  She has even gotten other people against me.  To make it short and simple they have no reason to fire me because I do an excellent job, and am dependable, so I think they are trying to get me to quit.  I think she has a friend she wants to give this job too.  Anyway, I don't want to give them the satisfaction of quitting, but I feel so uncomfortable here, this is the best job I have ever had. What do i do????.

Wow, that's a tough one!!! I'm stubborn so I know I wouldn't quit! But, if you're miserable every day that's not good either. If your financial situation requires you to be in need of this job, I definitely wouldn't quit until you line something else up. Good Luck!!!

I've been at the same law firm for 26 years, and I've seen so many people come and go. The trouble-makers usually have a way of finishing themselves off. If you really like the job, and this one person is causing your problems, I bet if you stick it out she'll find her way out the door and things will get better for you.

Hi Melissa,

What a difficult situation!  I don't like to quit anything but at the same time if you are miserable going to work each day that is no way to live.  You're at work a lot of hours to be miserable.

What about if you sat them both down and talked with them?  Tell them how much you love the job and enjoy working with them.  Let them know that you've felt there was a change or something wrong and you'd like to talk about it.  How would that be for you?  Approach them in a positive way to work it out.  Based on the talk, it will either make it better or you'll know there is something better out there for you.

You deserve to be happy!!!

Hi Melissa, since you love your job don't quit. Keep documenting so you have documentation to refer back to in case they do try to fire you. If that happens you call the unfair labor board and report them. Hold your head up high, look them in the eye when you talk to them. Do not let them intimidate you in any way. If you do an excellent job you will have something to stand on. Make sure your annual reviews are stellar. If they put something in your reviews make sure you comment on the actual review in your own writting. You are the person in control, don't be a victim here, they have no power over you and yes there are other jobs out there but you love this one so keep it. Your boss has to have a boss doesn't he? Or does he own the company?

Hi Debbie,

My yearly review was fantastic, he said he know complaints.  I spoke with someone hire up in my company and he said he is going to speak to my boss he is part owner, he is going to remind him that I am an asset to this company

Good for you Melissa going higher up in the company. Remember to just keep documenting and keep a seperate file at home just in case your co-workers are nosey.

Maybe the boss will replace the current girlfriend with a new one.  He was obviously willing to do it once so the odds are in your favor.

Stick with the current job but look for another.  You can always turn down any offers AND you might find something better.
