Poor Eating Choices
Hello,
have a major problem. I am 8 months out and eating 1500 to 1700 calories a day, walk 8 miles a day and have lost around 107 pounds, I started off at 244 and am now 137, goal is 115 @ 5"00. Well the weight lost went fast within 6 months I have lost 100 pounds. For the last two months weight loss has slowed from 29,20,17,15,14, pound losses a month. For the last two months I have been grazing all day. I really don't think I am hungry I think it is in my head. I just find myself reaching for little peices of candies all day. I am so scared last month I last 5 pounds and this month 2. I am scared like crazy. Have any of you been challenged by grazing, if so what did you do? Next, question is did any of you start out loosing weight really fast then woke up one day a eating monster and not loosing much weight @ all becuase that is what has happened to me?

The slowing down is normal, you will pick back up. I do agree with the post above, increase your protein. I started drinking my protein coffee again in the morning and I can't believe how much better I feel and I am not near as hungry as I was. Just drink, excersise and increase your protein. Good luck and God bless, Penni
Everyone told me I'd pick back up too, so I didn't hardcore adjust my food when I should have. I was a grazer too.....up until about a week 1/2 ago. I hadn't lost any weight since November and to top it off, I'd put on 7 pounds. I knew I had to do something.
What stopped the grazing for me was low carb. Not ~NO~ carb, but low carb. I average around 100 carbs a day, but they mostly come from fruits, Fiber One, Protein Plus cereal, whole wheat pitas and bread, etc. The first day was tough. The second day was torturous, my stomach was growling constantly. The third day...............ah, a little relief. I was starting to notice how much less I was wanting to walk to the kitchen. The fourth day was a piece of cake, I mean cheese. No cake, lol.
I'm definitely not saying that you won't pick back up with your weight loss, because plateaus and stalls do happen. Around my 7 month out, I had a month and a half stall and was right on cue with my exercise and dieting, so it happens. It's natural. But if you're grazing and have empty carbs during the day, the grazing won't get any easier.
WOW, 8 miles a day!?!?!?! Amazing.

I don't know how Penni makes hers, but...
all I do is pour my morning coffee and either let it sit to cool off about 5 minutes or throw in some ice cubes if I'm running behind. Once it's at the "right" temp(not quite room temp, but not burn-your-tongue off, either), I slowly add 1 scoop of protein powder, stirring the entire time. You'll know you have the right temp if the powder doesn't clump. This gives me 20g protein in the a.m. when my pouch says, "Uhhhh....you KNOW I don't accept food happily before 9 or 10 in the morning!" My preferred flavor right now is Banana Cream from GNC. Protein shakes just didn't do it for me, it was something about cold shakes, I seem to taste the powder separate from the rest of the concoction. However, this coffee thing has been working for me for well over a year now.

Hi Honey,
First let me say congratulations on your weight loss. Head hunger and grazing is a pain in the neck especially the head hunger. Working in an office myself I know what you're going thru. Add more fiber to your diet, and create you own goodie bag of things to snack on. I have found Protein Bars to be my saving grace.

Yes, I went thru a grazing phase at about 2yrs out. Its tough to break, but you can do it. I just kept reminding myself that its a habit (a bad habit) and I had to stop!!!! I also agree that with the above of adding more dense protein to your diet~when I eat dense protein and I am literally not hungry~real or head hunger. Also, do you do 3 meals daily or 5-6 meals?? I have found that going with 5-6 mini meals per day helps to keep my blood sugar steady, I feel better and crave less. Good Luck and Congratulations on 107 lost!!!!!!!
