fit day or dailyplate?

Hi everyone,

I am new to WLS Grads Forum. My 1 year was July 16th. This is a great forum, lots of encouragement and helpful advice. I don't want to gain my weight back and noticed alot of that success is due to tracking (not my strong point though). I see some use fitday or thedailyplate.

Could I get some opinions on why someone would chose one over the other? Also, do you all buy the program (fit day) or purchase the gold program with thedailyplate? Or are the free options good enough.

Thank you in advance.

I use the free daily plate. I liked it more than fit day because almost all of the food I eat is easily found, this was not the case with fitday in my experience. Congratulations on your surgiversary!

Hi and welcome to the WLS Grads Forum.
I chose fitday at first because I never heard of thedailyplate until I started using the Grads forum.  I decided to try dailyplate just out of curiosity because I read posts from some members who like it.  I found that both are easy to use and allow you to track food and activities, set goals along with other data that you might want to track for your weight management.   Both will allow you to add a food if its not in the data base and long as you have the nutrition label available.   I'm not sure that you can add recipies to fitday though.  Fitday is seems to be more user friendly and easier to navigate. I decided to stay with thedailyplate because it is easier to search for foods you have eaten.  You can find a food even if you entered part of its name or if you misspelled something.  Even though thedailyplate allows you to add recipies it is not easy to do.  When tried to enter a recipe I couldn't enter all the units of measure that my recipe calls for.  For now I will use the dailyplate until fitday improves its food database searching.  I know you didn't mention Sparkpeople,  It's another tool that some OH members like to use but I totally hated it.  Whichever one you decide to try you'll probably find that the free options are satisfactory.  Good luck and many blessings.

I echo what the other two posters said.  I have used both and feel the daily plate is better.  It has a more extensive lists of foods to choose from.  I haven't tripped it up yet.

First of all, congratulations on your success and your anniversary! Secondly, welcome to the WLS Grad board. I'm still pretty new here, but I've found it to be an informative and supportive group.

I have used fitday, sparkpeople and mydailyplate and I have stuck with the free version of mydailyplate because the database is so comprehensive. I can almost always find the food that I'm looking for without having to re-invent the wheel. Some of the others have other features that are good, but mydailyplate has just been absorbed by another program and I think that the other features like activity and journaling might improve.

Wishing you continued success,

Barb

Thank you everyone for your responses. I have tried Fitday, free version. You all have confirmed my concerns about the product. The database didn't seem to be very fruitful. I found I was adding in way to many items. I think I will head to thedailyplate.

Thanks again,
