Are Shirataki noodles the same thing?  You can get them at Asian stores.

They take a little getting used to and the key is to rinse well and pat them dry before using. Initially I was put off by the smell of the water that they come in but I've gotten over that. Here's what I made tonight with them...

Well tonight I was watching a movie and they were eating Chinese food and I instantly wanted something like Chow Mein. So...I went to the kitchen and made the absolute Chinese craving killer!

I used Tofu Shirataki noodles - spaghetti shaped

I put a little vegetable oil in a frying pan and threw in the noodles. I let some of the noodles get a little crispy. Then I put a few squirts of soy sauce - just enough to make the noodles brown. Then I added some bean sprouts, a little shredded carrots, and a little cabbage. Then I added shrimp.

OMG - this was better than ANY Chow Mein that I've ever had at a Chinese restaurant. It totally took care of my Chinese Food craving. Sometimes the best creations come out of desperation...

There ya go!  I'll definitely remember that and try it...I used to love Lo Mein...I tried some recently and swear it felt like I was trying to swallow a hose and not noodles...They just kill me!  But I just wanted that flavor too...and then I got hiccups for about an hour....I dunno why I still put myself thru these things!  LOL  I can't wait to get some...I keep forgetting to grab my charge card so I can order them...

You really got me craving this now!  LOL

hello gorgous!
K, I've totoally gotta try these. Reg. noodles/pastas still bother my extremly picky belly. I HAVE tried spegetti squash. LOVE that- and most other squashes. It's really good in a thick mushroomey/meat (soft turky spicy sausage in my case) sauce. nummmmm.  I'm gonna check my stores before I go ordering the noodles- I've some really odd little asien stores around here that might carry something simular.  Thanks for the info! Numm.. pasta I may actually be able to eat!!

Your regular grocery store should carry them. Check by the other tofu products or in the natural foods section. They'll be refrigerated...
