dave-some of us have to work two or three jobs for a living...we are struggling at my house so it helps to pay some bills- have you ever been there?
my iron is only just slightly low-they required it to be at "40" or above and mine goes between 43 and 49 each time.
I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

hubby (who is 68) collects soc sec (not alot!) and was injured at work so gets workers comp- will soon MMI so that will be gone- i work 20 hours per week no OT nothing...so the plasma $$ helps tho i won't ever get rich! hubby has medicare- i (at age 54) lost ins when his employer terminated him jan 31st-no warning! so -
the plasma place did a mini physical before first donation; they check bp , temp and weight ;also iron and protein levels in blood each and every time i donate so it is good- and it kindof forces me not to eat as much cheese as i like or rice/noodles etc...cuz they are detrimental to the plasma...it keep sme focused but i want very much to have a better cushion on the iron so i am looking at supplementing....i have never reached goal due to stress eating and at this rate am just happy to be healthy enuff to do the donation-- i get a bit tired after the second donation of the week -which falls on saturday- so i go home and have some breakfast and take a short nap...this also keeps me in better shape with my hydartion and i am an easy "poke".
back to the money--there are many many folk in worse shape than we are - we cannot refinnace cuz our credit has slowly trashed over the last twenty eight months since his injury- and our mortgage and car payment are killing me....
sorry if i jumped on you-it just really hit a nerve with me the way i "read" the typed word....

ok, prenatal--we should not take. i always said that but this year, i finally heard confirmation of that at ASMBS. calcium cancels the iron in it, anyway.
and if you COULD get it from your food, you WOULD HAVE gotten it from your food.
So, sadly, the way I read it, you've been living life this long with 0 iron. Your blood won't put up with that stuff!
