James,
I went to your website and read about the Wagon plan, it made since.  I started the pouch diet yesterday and as I was eating or drinking rather I was thinking to myself, I think I need to rethink doing this.  I hate restrictions and the feeling of not being satisfied.  The chicken soup was just not doing it for me.  I do have to admit that I wasen't hungry.  I think this is because I had a protein shake in the morning and I wasen't snacking on carbs.  I am going to think long and hard whether I am going to follow day 2 of the pouch test.  I know what my problem was, it was going back to old habits such as eating sugar here and there and snacking on things that are not good for me.  When I first had the surgery for that first year I had protein powder in my coffee every morning, I think I will definitly go back to that.  I just wanted to thank you for your help.  It is hard for me to just stop the pouch thingy because it makes me feel like I failed a diet just like I failed all the other diets I have been on all my life.  It just dosen't feel right to be on it.  I do like the wagan plan and know that it would work because my Aunt is diabetic and this is what the doctor has told her to do to balance her blood sugar.  Its all so complicated and I feel like I am thinking about food constantly but I guess that is what I have to do to have a healthy and long life.  Thanks again and God bless, penni

Hey Penni!
Please fogive me ahead of time because I am a rambler LOL. First I would like to thank you for reading my nutrition plan. If I may add somethings to it, maybe this will help you in the future. I don't condemn other plans that people follow, but I do observe the choices they make and why they do them. I observed many bodybuilders at the gym workout and asked them many questions about losing fat and taming hunger, the answers were the same as the many Doctors, Nutritionist, and Medical Journalist write about in their studies. The only way to lose fat is by creating a calorie deficit.

If foods are on your mind a lot during the day, there is a hormone called Dopamine, which sends signals of hunger for starchy foods (I had to edit this to add that it is the pleasure center for addictions or any behavior that will cause the body to seek reward). In reality, this is your body demanding glucose. When cravings are about, the body is demanding glucose as well. Glucose is an energy source for the brain and nerve system, when the body is depleted of this precious energy, it will begin to breakdown muscle fibers, and save fat for extreme emergency purposes. Many people on diets like the 5DPT, Atkins, Sugar Busters, Etc. are losing weight, but there is a difference between weight loss (Muscle, Water, and very little Fat) and fat loss (Fat and very little muscle). The only reason these quick fixes work is because they created a temporary calorie deficit. This is also what WLS does, it cuts the calories we consume in order to lose weight (Which many Doctors do not inform their patients that much of the weight loss will be muscle, this is why they give the generic recommendation to eat a high protein diet. Protein slows the breakdown of muscle tissue, so while the patient is losing a lot of weight, some muscles will be sustained).

When the appetite finally returns from people who done these quick fix diets (I call them metabolism destroyers), the weight gain usually returns pretty quickly because the body mostly lost muscle and water. So the illusion of losing 10lbs in a week is simply that... an illusion. Much of the 10lbs is muscle and water. When eating protein, it tames hunger because protein and fats are giant strands of molecules and requires a lot of energy by the body to breakdown these macronutrients down into glucose. The key is to feed the body every 2-3 hours of foods you love that are properly portioned (carb-protein). These mini meals if balanced correctly will never exceed over 6-8oz of food at a time. This amount of foods keep the body working hard to produce glucose. Digestion requires energy, eating every 2-3 hours will create a positive burn and keep the body burning fats 24 hours a day.

By balancing your meals, you will be able to enjoy all the foods you thought were off limits and live with total food freedom! I never deprive myself of something, I just add protein to it in order to keep my blood sugar stable. I would like to add that I am not a Doctor, or a Nutritionist, I am just someone *****fuse to return back to fat land, so I research as much as I can until I can't research anymore in order to beat this thing.

I wish you the best and please write me if you have any questions.

Big hugs
James

James,
Thank you so much for your encouragement!  Yesterday I did what you said with my eating and it was amazing how good I felt.  I didn't feel disatisfied or hungry.  I only had 1100 calories yesterday but I ate every 2 to 3 hours like you said.  The only thing I would change is I ate popcorn in the evening, oh well I didn't go over my calories.  I appreciate you and hope that you come on here more often.  Thanks again and God bless, Penni
