Has anyone heard of Full Bars?

I was weight lifting and I had the TV on, and a gastric bypass surgeon came on introducing Full bars on a commerical.  The idea was to somewhat mimic the effect of our surgery, without going under the knife.  I visited his website, and I couldn't find anything about using them as a tool with our tool.  I did send them a question regarding nutrional values and if they could be used by postoperatives.  I thought I would throw this out there, as I am not familiar with this product.  Here is the link for the bars-

I am in no way involved with this company or any other company that sells products.  I just need to know if anyone has any info on his bars.

Thanks!

I've never seen them or heard of them before your post but was able to find the following information on the web site you posted above under their FAQ catagory, so I guess post-ops could use them if desired.

Is Fullbar intended as a replacement for weight-loss surgery?
Fullbar is simple and safe and although it uses the same principles as weight-loss surgery, it is not a replacement. Dr. Snyder originally designed this product to broaden his reach and be of help to those who are not candidates for surgery and common guidelines apply. If you have a BMI of 40 or higher, surgery may be a good option for you ( What is BMI?). Surgery eliminates a time factor that may be necessary to control diseases like diabetes and other severe obesity health risks.  Still, Fullbar can be there for you in recovery, as it has been used by post-op patients as a tool to control hunger.  Use Fullbar well and make the right choice for you and your needs and as always consult your doctor.

That's my doctor - Dr. Michael Snyder - www.denverbariatrics.com

I haven't seen his commercial here in Miles City, Montana, but my daughter saw it over in Michigan. What I understand is that he created this bar for those that can't have WLS. It is full of fiber and you eat it before a meal so that when you eat you feel full faster. I think if we ate a whole bar, we wouldn't be able to eat anything else - but maybe a half of bar would work. I haven't heard if they are good or what is actually in them yet.

I did find the nutritional values - if you go under flavors... each flavor has a link for nut info.

Too high in carbs and sugar for me. About 30 g of carbs and 10 g of sugar and only 6 or 7 g of prot. But it could work for some I guess...

Thanks for the information on the FAQ.  I missed that section regarding post-op patients.  I was thinking the bar would need to be split in half, as to work properly in our smaller pouches.  Thanks for the replies.

Yep, I've seen the commercials here in NW PA. It looked kind of hokey to me and is definitely trying to sell to those that can't/haven't had wls. I guess its just one more option out there to try before taking the drastic step of wls.

I have seen those commercials here in Indiana, too, but I was very skeptical. I hadn't checked out the site or any nutritional info about them, but I wondered how they helped make you "full". I was worried they would swell up some how. But maybe it is just all the fiber? Too many carbs for me though compared to the protein in them. If someone tries them...share you thoughts!

I've heard of Full Bars but they ususally have cheap drinks and great happy hours.

With the DS: there is no stoma, so no stoma strictures; there are no limitations (other than volume) against drinking before, during or after meals; 80% of ingested fat is malabsorbed; 98.9% of type II diabetics are CURED of this devastating disease, with data showing stable cure over 10 years out; there is the best average weight loss and most durable (average 76% excess weight loss going out 10 years) of all of the bariatric surgeries.  That's why I had a DS!

That is great!  I love a good joke on a Monday Morning!  Thanks to all that have posted.  I have been lurking on this forum for six years.  I will update my personal page soon, and finally become a real member.  I feel like I know many posters, and this group is generally a very famously good for offering sound advice, as well as motivating each other in times of need and joy!
