Friday Weigh-in!

Well, it's Friday again!

I feel good about my week. I am trying to figure out how many calories I need to eat to maintain my weight (I'm 5'10" and run a lot)... I had gained some (grazing) but have taken those pounds off by journaling and posting here for accountability. Part of me wants to see how "skinny" I can get, but I know that I am healthy right now... It's a struggle, isn't it? :-)

Anyway, I'm 156 according to the WiiFit this morning (I forgot my scale at work again). My DH tells me that I'm sexy even in my sweat pants! Hee. Hee.

Nice...is that a loss for you?
I am 133.3 this morning.  i seem to like 130-134 lb range. I think there was a post by Molly this week with a bmi calculator, then there was a link to see how many calories you should eat to maintain or lose.
That doesn't work for me....I don't lose if I drop calories, and I usually gain if I go over 1200.  I have to stay away from carbs that's for sure!

I am glad dh is supportive of you and think you look great in sweats!  Woo-hoo...sounds like he is a definite keeper!!

It's actually a 0.4 gain--which I'm cool with. It's a different scale and not that big of a difference...

I've looked at the BMR-thingy... It says that I can eat WAY more than what I think I can (and WAY more than I do to be in my "happy" range)... I think my body is a little crazy--you know that being morbidly obese thing and then that losing 120 pounds thing... Hee. Hee.

My DH rocks! :-)

My weight had been trending down for over a week. Yesterday it was 186 (with a goal of 195).

I've decided not to alter my eating and just continue in whatever manner pleases me at the moment. I will re-evaluate the decision IF I hit BMI normal (168)

Awww... You made me laugh out loud. I've felt like that before. Stupid scale! Well, at least it's going in the right direction!

I had a metabolism test to find out exactly what *my* body needed - thats really the best thing to do IMO and it was well worth the $100 I spent at the YMCA here in Charlotte.
I found I needed to be eating 1400-1800 calories a day to maintain and I was eating much less than that... I also run quite a bit and really needed to up my intake to help balance out my energy.
It is hard not to want to try and lose more weight but I think the most important is finding a weight you can maintain instead of getting to a weight you struggle at.

You are soooo right. I'm going to look and see if my Y here does that test. What did it involve? I know that my surgeon told me that I had to eat more carbs and more calories than many of his other patients due to my "excessive" exercising (whatever)... But when I see black spots and feel dizzy, I know he's right and have been doing pretty well lately. I just don't want to fall down that slippery slope of a pound up here and a pound up there!

I did the resting and exertion test... the resting was sitting and breathing into the machine for 10 minutes (maybe it was 15, I forget)... for the exertion I had a choice of treadmill or elliptical - it was also 10-15 minutes.. basically me on the treadmill with it being increased (speed/grade) while I breathed into the machine and had a heart monitor on. I suggest getting both tests - the resting will tell your BMR (what you burn just to exist) and the exertion will tell you your fitness level - your heart rate levels (fat burning, calorie burning zones) and how many calories you burn doing all your daily activities... they also went over with me how to improve my heart rate and become more efficient at burning calories, the price included nutrition but I skipped that since I have a NUT already. I got print outs of all the tests and how to read them etc and its proved valuable to me... it shows how many calories I need to eat to gain, lose and maintain my current weight. I also went out and bought a heart rate monitor to more effectively help me work out... I needed to work on my endurance and it definately helped, I can also make sure I am staying in the zone I want and not dropping too low or too high.
I am thinking next year I will get another test to see how Ive improved :-)
