Update on my 5dpt

As I finished day five I was very impressed. On day 5 we went out to dinner, I wasn't even tempted beyond what I knew I should have. I ate 5 quarter sized grilled shrimp, one half a mozzerella stick, and a slightly smaller then one inch cube of steak. Did my fluid load 30 minutes before eating, had them remove my glass, then waited an hour after the meal to begin drinking water again. I am down as of midnight when I weighed in 7.8 pounds.

I have found that I have no real desire to go near carbs which is great. I have spent this five days doing the pouch test reflecting on how I got back here and why, when loking at my diet I have shifted to a 85% or more carb focus, which is what lead to my dustruction. Now that I am back to at least 75% protein- actually more like 90% I am confident that I can remain focused.

Saturday  night the nurse manager of the NICU bought pizza for the entire department, I was so happy with that I was not even tempted. Infact when some suggested, well you can just pick the meat off, I thought to myself "gross" all that processed meat and grease NO WAY!!! That was the greatest test, because I used to love pizza... even just last week.

I am in control!! Not the Carbs!!

When I came back to work after two days off and weighed in on Tuesday night I had lost another pound, and as tonight I am down a total of 9.6 pounds since he start of the 5dpt, and 12.8 total since I started trying to lose the regain.

Congratulations.  I am on day 4 and I really am so impressed how much this has seemed to help me, too.  We went out to eat last night at a restaurant for my daughter's birthday and I had worried so much about what to eat when I got there.  I was amazed that even with everyone ordering all kind of things at the restaurant, I really had no desire.  It wasn't like I had to argue with myself against the food, the desire wasn't there.  Maybe it's going without the carbs that makes all the difference.  I know I am truly addicted to them and once I start, I have a hard time stopping.

My husband even ordered fried fish and just looking at it almost made me nauseous.  To think that even a couple of days ago it would have appealed is amazing.  It brought me back to when I had begun going out to restaurants after first having my WLS, the amount of food they would put in front of my husband would turn my stomach.  I would sit there in awe jus****ching him eat and thinking, how can anyone eat that much?

Anyway, I am thrilled by this 5 day pouch test.  For me, it has been a real time to re-evaluate what I had been doing to myself.  I had regained 50 lbs. from an original 130 lb. loss and I am proud to say that in 3 days time, I have lost 8 lbs.  Even better, I think I am beginning to remember what it was like after surgery and finding hope that I can and will take off some of this extra weight that has crept back on and has been making me feel like a miserable failure.

Thank you to the person on this site that recommended the 5 day pouch test.  It has been wonderful for me.
