nice job. protein levels are low...and I've got to ask. Why are you not drinking whey protein to supplement?  You know we don't absorb what we eat, rny is mal absorption syndrome.  Perhaps add at least one a day (I use 3) because you will pay down the line.

No judgements here...just concerns!! Glad to have you with us!!!

My doctor and nutritionist told me to aim between 70-100 grams of protein per day.  So I wasn't aware that my protein levels were low.  What does your doctor recommend?

Brandi,

My surgeon and my nutritionist who are not affiliated with one another both recommend 75 to 110 grams of protein per day.  Even with Rny, there is a such thing as too much protein for the kidneys to handle.  And my nutritionist and surgeon both recommend that after the first year that you get your protein from the foods you eat.  And for the most part I can do that, but I do drink one protein shake per day to boost it up to the higher end of what they recommend.  You will get all kinds of answers about protein and supplementation as doctors are all different and have their patients on different plans.  I say follow what your surgeon says unless you have issues.  My bloodwork is always great and I am very healthy so I just follow the plan given to me by my doctor.
