Its is a new procedure where the take in the stomache in two place the same way you would take in a pair of pants. It is done in the office through the mouth with no recovery time it is used as a revision for the other procedures and is not cover by the insurance because it is still said to be in the experimental stages. There is one doctor that I know in New Hyde Park, Long Island NY  that does it and it about 2500 to get done.

wow only 2500? the places i was looking at was 10,000!! It's something I've looked into, but the littel feedback I HAVE heard from it says it's not worth it, it only helped the one lady lose another 10 lbs...not significant for what she paid....so I don't know if it would help me, my problem isn't really how MUCH I eat, but how often I eat, and what I eat. So I think I need to keep improving myhabits to lose weight, not get my stomach smaller.. I don' tknow..

Stomaphyx is a procedure to help fix or tighten up a pouch or stoma that has increased to an above average size. It decreases the size of the pouch/stoma but DOES NOT offer any additional malabsorbtion. So if you're considering one, DO NOT anticipate huge weight loss numbers because your lack of malabsorbtion remains with you if you're years out (basically you won't ever have super high malabsorbtion like you had right at surgery because it adapts over time causing more calories/nutrients to be absorbed).

The stomaphyx is all about restriction - that's it. Making less room for less food to be eaten. When it comes down to it with maintenance/weight loss, it's all about input versus output and likely always will be. Just don't anticipate the stomaphyx to get you fast weight loss because it's merely restrictive, so it all comes down to following the cardinal rules and focusing on lean dense proteins first, complex carbs second, and not drinking with meals to utilize the restrictive component of RNY 100%.

I think for someone with rapid gastric emptying it can be a great option to make food last longer in the pouch AND help them eat less at one sitting - but as a tool for rapid weight loss, no way.

ETA: Stomaphyx isn't something that most people need unless an EGD proves that the stoma/pouch is above average in size or rapid gastric emptying is present. I truly believe if you follow the idea of DENSE proteins first (even if it takes time to become more accustomed to eating them) and filling up on those to signal the nerves in the top of the somach you will notice you're pouch is still in optimal working order (unless an EGD proves otherwise). Not most people enjoy eating 8 ounces of chicken breast (for a 10-12 ounce pouch) BUT if it has to be done, it has to be done. Just consider how many crackers or popcorn would need to be eaten to get the same effect? Yikes. Dense protein is where it's at.
