Any tips for getting back on track?

Hi -- I'm 1 yr & 3 months out from RNY --- and pretty much done with the weight loss part --- but I seem to be falling back into old habits and want to get back on track!  Between a busy schedule at work & the summer holidays....wining and dining lots...skipping the exercise...making some bad food choices ---- I need a kick in the ass.

Wondering what everyone else does to get focused again???  I'm doing this 5 day pouch test thing now.  Well, today is my first day - with the protein shakes.....I am totally preoccupied with food...but not hungry.   It's that head-hunger.  I need to get my head back in the game.  It's as though I'm taking my weight loss for granted now and don't need to work to stay in shape.  Right.  If it were that easy, I would have never gotten fat in the first place.

Another thing...wondering if others feel like they need to see a shrink at this point in the game?  I can't put my finger on it, but I feel anxious.  I'd like to forget that I was ever fat -- just pretend it never happened.  I'm very embarrassed by it.

Any feedback is appreciated!

Julie

Hi Julie,

I'm sorry you are struggling so.  The 5dpt is a good place to start...I would think anyway.  I am struggling in other areas right now but hear so many people use this program to get back on track.  I hope it works for you.  If you think you need to see someone do it!  I know I need the help and wish I could afford it.

I wish you lots of luck and congratulations on your success.

Support groups are good julie. I've been in one for years and will keep with it. I am a food addict with a wls tool.

You have to know why you are sabataging yourself, so perhaps counselling would be good. Remember, nothing feels as good as thin feels. we tend to go back to the familiar, because we hid behind food.

its good you realize the problem now before you undo all your hard work. Go back to the basics, protein fruit and vegetables. Stop the sugar and go sugar free, and get away from those w hite carbs. Get people around you to help support you at home and check in here, we will encourage you too.

None of us are better than you, we all need encouragement. But the key still is you julie, only you put the food in your grocery cart and ultimately in your mouth. We are here to help and cheer you on. you can get back on track, I know you can!!!

I agree - I think support is really helpful. Also, it helps me to look at pictures of myself when I weighed 340. Then I remember how everything hurt when I got out of bed in the morning, and my knees would shake from the weight. And how I could never shop at the mall because I couldn't walk that far without hurting and getting out of breath and my ankles swelling like basketballs. I was afraid to go to restaurants because they'd put me in a booth that I couldn't fit in. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about - it's a long, long list. Just remember where you came from and it will give you the motivation to keep going.
