distension

Hi, my name is JoAnne and I have never posted before . I feel that I can get some feedback from members who are at least 4 years out. I had my surgery in July 2006. I had open gastric bypass surgery. My weight was 404 pounds the day of my procedure. Today I weigh 140 pounds. I am 5'8" . I recently found out that I have an iron deficiency and have started receiving iron intravenously. I have a problem though, for the last month I look like I am 9 months pregnant. I am completely distended. I am moving my bowels and have had all kinds of tests done. Tomorrow, I am seeing my Bariatric surgeon about performing an exploratory laproscopic procedure. My question is, has anyone else experienced this? Sincerely, Jo

We're month and year WLS twins. I also had my lap RNY July 2006...But nothing like that here. Please check back and let us know what it could possibly be...Very interesting.

That distention has me worried.  It could be a sign of all kinds of things that I hope the surgeon can find a reason for that is easily fixable. 

Dear Carol, I am very worried too . I am having abdominal pain and pain in my back but what troubles me the most is that I have had an Endoscopy, Colonoscopy, Cat Scan, and MRI. My primary care physician is convinced that it is a stricture or some kind of obstruction, but wouldn't that have shown up in all of these tests? Well, I will be seeing my bariatric surgeon today for an evaluation. Carol, the irony of all that is happening is that I had a tummy tuck last year thinking my stomach would be flat and now i feel  and look like I am going to blow up. Thank you for responding Carol.
