Disappointment & Tears...

You look so beautiful and so happy...and so sexy in your "sexy dresses"...Doctors are just people and they have their own opinions besides a "medical one" of what a woman should look like regardless of what the scale says.   You shine in your photos...That smile says it all sweetie...So don't feel too bad...You have a plan to work a bit harder and that's all you can do...But do it because you want it and to feel better about you...You've come a long way and while it's not impossible to lose more (although at 165 lbs myself...It feels like it sometimes!)  I'm happy where I am...and I have a tall skinny athletic black female doc who thinks my short chunky self looks great!  She told me that I look so much smaller than I weigh and that I have done well keeping my weight off.  (She's not a WLS doc either) But still a doctor of health! And she never makes me feel I have to weigh 100 lbs to be successful or healthy. I wouldn't care if she did anyway...  LOL You want to hear something funny?  My surgeon is...well, he's quite chubby!  When I said I wanted to be 160 as a goal..he thought that was a good weight too...So not all docs are created equal when it comes to opinions of weight...Some go strictly by BMI...and that's what I think your doc is going by...I honestly don't think the BMI calculator is universal....We might all have the same bone frames...but we don't all carry our weight in the same proportions...You know what "feels" right on you...Go for that and be healthy...'cause you are beautiful!  Oh and I just found a great site for adorable little sun dresses at ridiculous prices at Overstock.com!  Must see these!  SOOOO CUTE!!! http://www.overstock.com/Clothing/Adi-Designs-J-California-F loral-Cap-Sleeve-Dress/3048214/product.html?

I'm sure you can lose some more weight if you want to, but my goodness, don't think you haven't been successful. I think you've done a very good job. Everybody's weight goes up and down sometimes too. I don't know all the answers, but I do know you shouldn't starve yourself. Try to eat healthy, good, nutritious foods, do some exercising, and everything will fall into place. I have friends that lost weight years after WLS.

Don't be so hard on yourself. You have done great! I'm closing in on 2 years out and I understand what you feel like. As we get farther out, we can eat more. I've learned it is okay to eat more volume of food just not more calories. So give yourself permission to eat -- start with all the spinach and carrots and sweet peppers and tomatoes and broccoli and other veggies that you desire. Add in a few servings of fruits -- mellons are terrific being high in water and fiber and low in calories. They fill me up like nobody's business. Now throw a few ounces of solid protein (chicken, turkey, ham) on those veggies at lunch or dinner with a dash of low cal dressing. Add a few nuts here and there. You don't ever need to feel hungry or deprived. Experimenting with spices and new recipes helps keep things lively. Be sure to check in with OH daily. There is a "what did you eat today" posting pretty much every day on the WLS grads board and a 'did you exercise" posting on the main board too. It helps to keep us all accountable. As far as exercise goes, I've found that the best way to get in exercise is to find something I can stick to. I walk. It's easy and can be done anywhere. In the winter, I walk on the treadmill. I found that the gym is nice but it is far to easy to say "its too far out of my way". I can't say that about my treadmill. It's downstairs calling my name. And it is much easier to make it part of every day rather than a few times a week. It becomes more of a habit. I come home from work. Make any dinner preparations/ pop it in the oven if needed. Exercise. Then its dinner time. It's like our vitamins. Much easier to make it a habit if you do it every day. One other thing I do is weigh myself every day in the morning. If I see an extra pound, I limit myself a lot that day. If I see the same weight, I pat myself on the back but I still limit myself a little -- still want to lose. And a loss of even one pound deserves major spoiling and bragging. A hot bath. A new pair of shoes. A manicure or pedicure. Whatever works for me that day. Okay. Enough of my running on. Have a great evening and give yourself a big hug. You've been working hard and you've just recommitted yourself to the fight. You rock!

You are on the right track. Immediately responding to a small gain or stall is crucial to getting back on track and in control. You can get it back! Don't worry, even "normal" THIN people deal with this. And they do just what you're doing--cutting back and upping exercise. The trick is to do something about it right away, before it spirals. You CAN do this. You are already doing the right things--logging your cals and going back to basics. It won't be long now, you'll feel the difference and the panic will fade. Be confident, you're handling it, and the payoff will come! hang in there. best of luck!
