At 1+ years out do you still suffer from complications?
You are VERY wise to get all of your questions answered now!! I've not had any complications and would do this whole thing over in a heartbeat, but it IS major surgery which some consider "elective". For those of us who are morbidly obese, we didn't consider it elective since it is a matter of life and death to us. But, "others" who don't have a clue about being very overweight would. I hope that all goes well with you and please don't hesitate to ask any questions that you need to. That's one of the reasons we are here!!!

Complications: let's see, needing more money to go buy clothes and shoes. I could never shop at a store, any store, I was too big. Catalog shopping only. Now, I have trouble finding the size 4's on the rack, lol. Shoes, same thing, my feet were too wide for most shoes. Now I love shopping and only go infrequently so I don't spend money.
Complications: hmm, wanting to go on vacation all the time because I can now hike for miles. I have more energy at 53 than I have had in my entire life.
I take my vitamins and supplements, consume good quality proteins and every single fruit and vegetable that I could want. I see my surgeon annually, check my labs, and take this surgery seriously every day.
Yes, it takes time to heal. Yes, there can be complications, I don't mean to make light of the fact that they do. But not for a minute do I believe I have traded being thin for a lifetime of medical problems. I believe, for me, it is just the opposite.
Best of luck to you in your decision.

I am 3+yrs out and haven't had any complications to speak of. I am hoping that as long as I follow my vitamin routine and try to continue with a healthy lifestyle I will be fine for many years to come! I can honestly say that I am the healthiest~physically and mentally~that I've been in a long time!!!

Ran into some vitamin problems - white cell counts very low - then contracted shingles from it. The white cell count was low for over two years - I didnt' think it was a problem until surgeon said this is the 5th time its been low and it was just dropping more. My nut thinks its B related although my B12 is extremely high - trying to find a fix to it now.
Everything else has been very nice! Some stomach cramping but believe its just scar tissue. It took over two years to get to the vitamin deficiency that no one can tell me exactly what it is so now I just take double B Complex (200 mg) and started some iron 100mg along with 1500 calcuim citrate, 4 optisource vitamins, and my daily sublingal Trader Joe's B-12.
I can say even with these problems that I have right now - I am very happy to be 200 lbs vs 425. What a difference it is in life.
