grad board - how is it different?
Kim I spent the first two years as a post op on the Main board and Texas Board (which I still am very active on). I rarely go to the main board now, one is to do time and the other is I need a different type of support at this stage; someone that understands what we go through.
I've seen newbies make comments that make me shake my head, nothing against that but until they have walked the walked and talked the talk, they are somewhat in denial of what long-term post-op life is like. When I see someone say "I'll never do that, I'll never eat XYZ" I want to cringe; because I remember saying some of those things to myself, never on the boards. I didn't get what maintenance was, nor did I ever think I would eat the quantity I can eat now. It didn't make sense when I was struggling to eat 2 tbsp of food. Understand?
I do support, encourage and answer questions for those following; but it's on the TMB and when a newbie or pre-op comes to the grad board answering questions......so yea I want to pay it forward but I also "need for myself" what the grads can offer.
