I had my bypass on 2/14/07.  I haven't lost any weight in about 6 mos.  I have lost a total of 91 lbs.  I still have about 45 lbs to go.  My dietician said some people go to WW to help get more weight off or gained weight off if you've gained.  Is there anyone out there that's done that?  How would you be able to eat the WW way?  You can't eat that much.  I was thinking of going for the accountability to myself as far as the water intake and the exercise and the measuring of the food.  I live pretty far from any type of WLS meeting.  Any thoughts?  I could use some help!  Thanks!

Do you journal your food? Do you exercise now? If you don't journal your food, I recommend you start... You will with WW anyway. See what you are eating now and check the amounts, carbs, fats, proteins, calories... I would start there. Try it for a week and see what you are actually eating... Just a thought.

I think WW actually works for wls.  You can now choose what you eat, so you don't have to stock up on filler foods like fruits/veg that we can only eat a little of and concentrate on protein.

I did WW a long time ago and lost 76 pounds only to gain back 105.  I then followed the program to lose my pre-op required 10%.  I would think the "core" program would work really well for WLS post-ops.  Hope it works for you!!!

I agree with Stephanie that the core plan would work well. Also, do you know about www.thedailyplate.com? It's a free website that lets you log your food and it breaks it down into calories, fat, carbs, protein, etc. It's really cool and has helped me A LOT in recognizing why I was gaining weight. I had bypass in 2002 and began to regain and I joined WW in 2007 an did help me to be around people trying to lose weight and the the motivation helped with the accountability. I would recommend going to a support meeting because eveyone there knows you had the surgery and they are in your same situation. I live in Dallas and they are getting more after care groups because so many people are gaining weight after the honey moon phase. There are bariatric walking teams who are training to do marathons and they are mostly beginners. My doctor has post op yoga classes and cooking classes offered through his nutritionist. Good luck and get active thats what we have to do!!  Move to lose!!
