My first post about this is gone...

I first posted about joining WW a couple of weeks ago and it disappeared.  Are we not supposed to talk about other methods of losing weight here?  I just thought it was kind of odd.  Anyway, after two weeks, I have lost 6 lbs. and I am very happy about it.  I know all the tools of the surgery, and I have been  doing protein first, then veggies, then whole grains, etc., but my pouch does not ever signal "full".  So I had started the dreaded grazing and eating a little bit at a time - but all day long.  WW put me back into being accountable for what I ate and putting a limit on what I eat during the day.  I think any kind of accountability plan can help -FitDay, Daily Plate, etc.  But I had to shell out some money for this one, and I literally put my money where my mouth is.  LOL.  Just an update.  I need to take off 4 more lbs. of what I gained, and then maybe work on getting to my original goal which is another 10 lbs. Have a great week everyone! Barb

That's great! I don't know that we are not allowed to talk about other programs--that would seem odd... I'm using fitday and this board for accountability right now. I understand the urge to graze! Keep up the good work.

I've seen lots of posts about WW and I didn't think anybody got upset about it. Thank you for sharing your good fortune with WW. I know lots of us have thought about doing it.

This is probably the 15th or 16th time I have joined since I was 10 years old, so I have been around WW for 40 years or more.  I thought about it a few times in the past year, but it wasn't until I hit the actual 10-lb gain that I decided enough was enough.  I, like all of us, have come too far to put all of the weight back on again. It's funny, a 10 lb. gain wasn't much when I weighed 250, but it felt like I weighed 250 again when I gained 10 lbs. at this weight.  I can only say it feels good to be in control of what I eat again, for the most part, instead of what I eat being in control of me. Have a great week, everybody!

when i looked at your latest posts, there is a post titled "weigh****chers" Topic: Weigh****chers  I'm glad it is working for you. It never worked for me. I'd go to the meetings and the folks on maintenance would be talking about Dairy Queen. I usually left WW craving ice cream. Glad you have a better group! judi

Actually, I don't have a group at all - I am doing it online.  Was never much for those group meetings at WW or OA or any of those type of things.  I also don't go to WLS Support Group - at least the one available to me - for some of the same reasons.  They are mostly talking about what they can or can't eat and I have different issues.  I usually leave frustrated.  I am not saying that is a good thing.  Just the truth.

Hi Barb,

I know a number of folk who have used WW to maintain and/or lose more weight very effectively after WLS. I think it's great that it works for you and that you've posted about your success. I also applaud you for noticing and acting on the '10 lb.' gain. I think it's important for us to know that we can regain, but we can also lose it and learn to maintain.  As you said, many of us have a very long history with WW and other programs over the years, but we didn't have our tools to help us. Now we do and can be oh soooo successful. Congratualtions.

Wishing you continued success,

Barb
