Exciting and Painful Week
Hello all, I just want to tell you about my week. It hasn't been a good one. Monday morning about 4AM, I woket up. I wasn't feeling so good. I paced the kitchen a couple of times then I tried to go to the bathroom. Everything seemed a tiny big better. I stood up and OMG the pain hit big time. I couldn't stand up. It hurt too much. I couldn't sit down. It hurt too much. I layed down on the cold floor for a good hour writhing in pain. I finally found enough energy to climb the stairs and tell my husband he needed to get me to the hospital. After a few hours of tests, they didn't find anything that may have caused the pain. They did find a growth on my kidney though. They sent me home -- still in terrible pain but with pain pills and an appt. set with my surgeon the next day and an appt with another doctor about the kidney in a week. I suffered thru the next 24 hours, saw my surgeon and he immediately sent me back to the hospital for exploritory surgery. A few hours later, he found major adhesions which caused a twisted intestine and gangrene in my intestine. He fixed everything and sewed it all back together. While I was in the hospital recovering, my blood volume fell so low that I needed two units of blood. Now, a few days later, I'm out of tje hospital and on the mend. Thank goodness for my surgeon, his knowledge and skill. It looks like I'll be okay in a few weeks. I had a rough week all in all. Hope your week went better.
P.S. After I'm all recovered from this surgery, I'll have to have surgery to remove the growth on my kidney. That doctor said he is 99% sure its cancerous. Even though I'm a little peeved that the ER sent me home in so much pain, I'm also really glad they found it. That's the silver-lining in all of this.

Judy, what an ordeal you have been through. I am glad that your surgeon was on the ball and that you are now on the mend. I hope that your next surgery goes well, it is like a blessing in disguise that your first problem led to finding out about the growth on your kidney. I do hope that it can be taken care of as well and you have a full recovery.

Thank you. It's been difficult but I'm still alive because of my wonderful surgeon. And it sounds like my kidney, even if it is cancerous, was caught very early so surgery will cure it completely. I feel very fortunate to be alive today.

Judy,
So scary! Sorry to here what a horrific week it was--but I suppose in a convuluted way all that intense pain was the biggest blessing of all!! Funny how we never know what will be a good thing for us in the end...
I wish you ALL the best with the drama to come--and certainly hope your dr. is wrong!
Take good and gentle care of yourself,
Kim
