This is a very good question!  I was lucky that the Bariatric Surgeon's practice that I chose included Metabolic Physicians; sometimes called Metabolic Nutritionists.  I was unable to find a directory online so the best bet is to check with your PCP or the listings at the nearby hospitals. I'd also think that your health insurer would have a listing of Metabolic Physicians who they approve payment / coverage for your health needs.

My Metabolic Physician has the accrediations MD, FACP, FACN and has worked in the field for over 20 years.

FACP = Fellow of the American College of Physicians

FACN = Fellow of the American College of Nutrition

I've had the same problem. I've been maintaining at 15 lbs. below my surgeon's goal weight for a year and a half now. To keep from losing more, I had to cut back on my workouts (2-3 days/week instead of 5) and eat more carbs. I always have a whole grain carb snack a couple hours after dinner now. Anytime I get stressed, I can easily drop 5-7 lbs. in a week which can be scary.

I'm in the same boat. I'm 4'11" and I'm struggling to maintain 100 pounds. I keep dropping down to 98. Then I work really hard at eating more and it might come back up to 101 but can't get it back to 105 like I would like to be. I have to eat every 2-3 hours to get it all in, but I have been managing to get in 1400 cals a day which seems to be keeping me at 100.

It might be helpful for you to know what cued me that I might have a different problem, which is unrelated to WLS.  For me it was rapid weight loss that signaled that there was change in my body. At 13+ months post-op, I had an 8.5LB loss...then 1.5 soon afterward.  Increased eating and limiting exercise (or replacing calories burned) did not add weight.  There was a 2nd rapid weight loss in April of 5LB in 5 days, which was followed by a 1.5LB.  My intake was at 1500 calories with eating around the clock, which did help a bit.  Soon that amount did not keep the weight on, so I increased to over 1750 calories on average (highest day was about 2800 calories) per day.  My lowest weight was 128.5LB for 5'1.5", which does not sound that bad, but rapid losses concerned me.  Any rapid loss or rapid gain suggests "change".   My Dr. followed-up with testing to rule-out other illness, which is a very good idea in general.  Stay Well and have a great day... I will too! Ro
