I am losing too much.  Even my doctor says so.  I am 5'4" and weigh 110.  I am looking pretty bad.  My size 3's are bagging.  What the heck is going on?  I am 15 months post op.  Anyone else having this problem.  Who would have thought???

What did your doctor tell you to do? I lost too much weight and my surgeon's nurse answered all my questions and set me on the path to putting on some weight.  They should help you determine what you need to add to your eating plan in order to help stop weight loss.  They are the people to best advise you according to your particular situation! If they didn't give you specifics, call and speak to the nurse and/or the nutritionist!   By the way, I did gain weight and looked and felt much better!

I have two sides to my brain - a right side and a left side.  The trouble is sometimes there is nothing left in the right side and nothing right in the left side.

Sharlene, I lost allot also, then had some regain.  I agree with Vanessa, talk to your doc and nutritionist on what foods to add into your program to stop the loss.  I had to add extra meals/snacks. I gained some back also and look much better at this weight.

Oh I would. I'm in the same boat. At my one year appointment I was 3 pounds under the surgeon's goal for me and I asked him how to stop losing...He said "EAT MORE." Hell, who'd have thunk it?  I'm 5 ft 5 and weight (today) 123. I wear size 0 to size 4 jeans..depending on the manufacturer..I'm trying to maintain and stay where I am and so far, so good but it's not easy...And you get so little sympathy in the real world. So I keep my mouth shut at work. We can hang out here. Some people have the same issues and I certainly understand.  Do speak to your doctor and your nutritionist. I'd be interested to see what they suggest. I'm pretty active but I'm skeerd to exercise too much cuz anymore size drop and I'll disappear...LOL.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Hi, Sharlenew...  The suggestions that you've gotten from the Grads are on target.  Maybe you might want to add food during the evening hours, night -time hours, and early am hours.  That should stop your weight loss.  Update your Dr. on your weight after eating around the clock.  If you are still lossing or barely maintaining, your Dr. will probably order additional testing to figure-out why you are not stabilizing.  Peanut butter can add calories and not make you feel uncomfortable so you might want to add it to your meals.  You'll probably see some good results... so give it a try!  Keep in touch and let us know how things are going.  Have a Happy 4th of July!    Ro

Hi Sharlenew~ Same boat here too.  I"m 5'4" and am now 117.6.  At my 1yr dr. said to gain 10 - 20 pounds and I've since lost 10!!  My Nut. says to add 200-400 calories a day and STOP exercising so much.  WTF...NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS did I ever dream I woul here the words "STOP EXERCISING"  It has yet to work but I keep plugging away.  I know I look bad and have my friends & family scred but I can't help it...wow this is such a catch 22.  I was exstatic to have the scale say 117.6 but then again scared to death cause I just keep losing.

I have to stop exercising completely. It really sucks because it's summertime and I want to get out there and go mountain biking and backpacking. I'm tired of being sick every summer. (I don't do gyms during the summer, though I may start weight training to try to bulk up a bit.)

I'm 5'4" and down to between 104-106. My nut wants me at 110. I wish adding 200-400 calories to my diet would be enough, but I eat all the time as it is! I have to take weight gain supplements now. At least I seemed to have stopped losing. I can't tell if it's because of my eating, or if I was just meant to be this weight. I have small people in my family.

It sucks, and I'm seeing more and more people who are in the same situation. In one way, I'm sad to see other people struggling with this problem, but in another way I'm glad I'm not alone.

LMAO!!!! Im w/ her LOL!!!!! JUST KIDDING - im just saying - having not yet reach my goal since .... well no - thats not true. I really didnt have a "goal" in mind, i suppose... i guess i kinda though i'd go as low as & could & would just play it by ear as it were...i did get down to 165 & i thought that was good for me. It was a huge adjustment for those around me to see me "so small" i dont think THEY could have handled anything less.  So - im just saying, i would like to RE-reach my goal of 165 & keep it there. **but maybe 150 would be OK too**

There is a wonderful freedom in the first year of WLS... freedom from the "fat suit"  There are the issues of Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) , usually only a protruding collar bone seems to show significant weight loss for some post-ops. There are many *****gain... but the body has "adapted" with increased intestine diameter and a colon that can now absorb calories... so monitoring calories is essential. There are some who lose too much for yet unknown reasons.  If they are able to regain weight and stabilize, continued monitoring of intake is their goal.   The amount of "exercise-used calories" should be added to the day's meals to meet the daily calorie goal, as well as supplements  for good health.  Lab reviews are an important part of life post-op. For the few who cannot regain the weight additional testing by a Metabolic Physician is a good idea. Additional testing will probably follow and a plan of action discussed.  I had the testing and I'm waiting for further information from a Gynecological-Oncologist.  My answer may be treatment. There is a wonderful freedom in knowing the state of your health.... so make that your priority.
