Slow and steady wins the race. But really is it a race. Most of us gained our excess weight over a period of years, so losing it may take some time too.

Your plan sounds good, and more healthy in the long run .We all need to find a happy medium, a plan that we can live with for life. Making new eating habits takes time and repetition. Even if you pick one area to focus on and do that for a week or two until it becomes second nature and them add another new habit and so on.

You can do it!

I look forward to hear how you are progessing on your journey :-) I am glad that you found a 'happy medium' and hopefully this will be key for you this time. Its definately hard only seeing 1-2lbs a week but if you look over time at the end of a month you could be down 4-8lbs... that is a good amount - gotta look at the big picture! I think its most important to realize its best to lose 1-2lbs and keep them off, then lose 5lbs and regain that and maybe even more... for me its always been easy to lose weight but keeping it off has been the struggle... so if I can lose 1lb and never find it again then I feel victorious!

Hey Leslee, it sounds like a good, solid plan to me and I think you'll do very well! I know what you mean about doing the extremes, that's me too, but since I've given that up in the past few months I've dropped down quite a few pounds~this is not reflected in my siggy for current weight b/c I also have given up weighing myself for awhile and although I'd love to know what my current weight it, I know that my clothes that were fitting tight in the spring are now sagging and bagging so I take that as a good sign!!! I *might* actually weigh Friday morning b/c I do plan to eat lots of good (bad)things on the 4th of July and I would just like to know exactly where i'm at~not sure yet though b/c my mind is so crazy and I'm on such a good track right now that I don't want to mentally mess anything up~if that makes sense, LOL!!! Anyway, good luck and keep us posted!!!!!!!!!!!

Your body *needs* carbs. If you stay really low, your body will not lose weight.  It will be forced to break down muscle in order to get energy, no matter how much protein you eat. Also, carbs are the fuel for the brain.  If you are too low, brain function *will* falter. My nut wants me no less than 100g of carbs each day.  I try to get close, but notice I lose better when I hit in around that goal.  I'm still able to get high protein numbers in (over 100 every day.. generally closer to 120) and keep my fat low (generally under 20g). But really, 20g carbs will throw your body into starvation mode.  Really.
