New "Graduate" intro and doing 5dpt Monday
Hi everyone.
I've met some of you on other boards of OH. I mainly post on the NY board and lately on the PS cause I had incisional hernia repair & some other stuff.
I've just started reading some posts here, and I'd love to get to know you guys.
Anyway, I've been at this stall for a couple of months now, and it's my own fault. The carb monster has gotten me, yet again. NO EXCUSE, but my hubby has liver disease (transplant in his future) and has these cravings where he'll only eat one food for weeks on end--his docs say to go with the flow, so I can't tell him to keep his ice cream/cookies out of the house. He keeps the cookies to himself, but so far I can't find a small freezer with a lock on it!
Unfortunately, I don't dump...but if I eat a lot of suger I do "go" a lot...not enough of a deterrant for me...I NEED to stop eating this stuff.
I do believe in personal responsibility, and it's MY job to stay out of the carbs/sugar, not his. It's so hard when it's in the house, but once I get a handle on it, I do ok.
Anyhoo, I've done the 5dpt twice--the first time I lost 6 lbs (about 4 months ago when I was stalled) and again a month or 2 later & didn't lose. And yes, I was severly constipated each time, so this time I'm taking precautions.
I just bought the ingredients for the pumpkin sausage soup (my kosher/vegitarian version) which I love, and I intend to make the tuna patties on day 3. I've never succeeded on giving up the caffeine either time, as my doc says we can have up to 16 oz. of coffee a day (hotly debated between him and his nut) so perhaps I'll go down to 1 cup of tea and drink some green tea as the site suggests.
I'm also unemployed for the first time ever in my life and kinda depressed over it. I'm going on interviews, so hopefully something will hit soon...
It's nice meeting you all--Does anyone want to do the 5dpt w/me on Monday?

You've come to a great place! Welcome! Seriously, come here every day, be active on the board, and this board will help! I came here a few weeks ago and my life has changed drastically. My first post here I was hoping someone would tell me it was ok to drink a LOT of alcohol, snack day and night, not exercise.. and some how still lose weight. What happened instead was the most amazing transformation in my lifestyle. The people here are great!

Before/Lowest/Current/Goal I have come too far to take orders from a cookie!
It's amazing how the little things all add up and make a BIG difference..start with just REDUCING the ice cream, lol, don't go cold turkey ;). And yeah, I'm afraid working out really does help.. DANG IT! So I've gotta learn to LOVE it...or at least keep tolerating it! hahaha.

Hi Karen. I too am fairly new to this Board. I got married in April and have been eating and drinking my way up 10 lbs., so I am going to do the 5 dpt starting next Monday. Maybe we can keep each other accountable. I haven't done it before. The pumpkin sausage soup is a good idea and I am gonna get the stuff to make it this weekend.
I am gonna miss my wine at night, but I'll try not to whine about it...lol
I'm starting first thing tomorrow a.m. Hope I can do it. I wish I could be positive, because i know that is the best, but I am gonna give it my all and hope for the best.
I don't know about the wine. I never drank before and feel like I have a transfer addiction, but am not sure how to handle it. I RARELY drank before surgery, but now seem to drink more than I should. I am working on it though.
Are you starting in the A.M. If so I will post tomorrow night and hopefully we can do this together....
