1. daily vomiting? or now and then you forgot to chew a carrot?
constant vomiting can damage a pouch. More then just stretching. If you vomiting daily, get it checked! Like yesterday! And start taking B1 and hurry. Get those levels checked.
If you have to give back the occasional "learning food" or thought you chewed it, but apparently not enough, then I agree with whoever said to get it out vs letting it block and potentially dehydrate you.
2, stats at 5 yrs on proximal rny are 50% of excess. So, I had 150 to lose. National stats say I will have lost 75 of it, thereby making me a statisical success. I had distal rny, so higher standard to meet, 92% of excess. Of my 150, I should've lost most of it. As it happens, I lost it all, retained it 14 yrs now. But RESULTS NOT TYPICAL.
Real ppl with my surgery usually lose and maintain 80% of excess.
Plenty of ppl with proxies lose and maintain 90-100%, but some do not (no breakdown as to mechanical failure or adherence to a bda program), so you can't predict your 5 yr result based on stats that do not break down the why of it iall.
3. any time. Bit first 3 months probably set the tone of how life will be. UNLESS there is a blockage, daily vomiting, and then getting it fixed will often help. It's not like a pouch a nice snug knee-high stocking type thing that becomes a worn out bobbie sox at 3 months. Just that the fabric begins to become more accomodating as you use it.
Out launch instructions were very much different than any I've seen other places. We are on clears for 4 weeks (plus protein/vites) and then soft (NO PUREED!) for 2, then food. But 1-2 oz, 4-6 per day, until goal wt. Most programs want you eating up to a cup by 6 months!

Michelle, thanks so much for your post. I can eat about a cup of food. Sometimes I pu**** though. I need to start measuring again. I've lost the ability to identify portions. SOmetimes I vomit because I eat too much or eat the wrong thing. Usually it is because I eat too fast. That is my biggest struggle. Thanks for your support! I'm trying to refocus on the rules!
we actually signed a contract on our tiny portions. 1-2 oz til goal wt. It helps to measure. I'm a volume eater. 14 yrs and I still portion control food I carry with me. If half a protein bar is what should be, I put half in a baggie. See? Then I can eat "the whole thing", and still be in reason.
If you are vomiting daily, and you are not SURE there is fault in it, be checked! But if it's just a matter of organizing your eating, ti's not too late. You can figure out how to portion things before they get onto your plate and into your face.
Some ppl are taught to eat larger portions, even if they have to sit there for 45 minutes to get it in. I don't agree. It only teaches grazing. My thinking is you eat for 15 min or first full, whichever comes first. And after first feeling of full, walk away from the plate or put it in the sink. Done. End of meal. For at least 2 hrs.
But for very small portions, 15 minutes is way too much. If I am having a social meal, I send the plate away before I get my second wind, so to speak. I know where I'm strong and where I'm weak. You know? I just have to work with what I've got. Me. LOL
