its all about reading the labels...and how many "servings" you have ...look at the serving size and see how many calories per serving.  write and log everything you eat and drink.

With as many LAME questions as I have, i dont consider any question a "dumb question" :) That said - I believe (at least I have been told) to lose weight, you need to reduce your caloric intake to somewhere between 800 - 1200 cal./day.  Im thinking 800 in IMPOSSIBLE!! but, thats why im back here on the board :D how do you calculate it - read the labels on stuff & pay attention to the calories per serving (figuring how many servings are in each thing you eat) **eg: there could be 2 servings in what ever it is your eating, which would double the total calorie count** Best of luck :)

I went and had a metabolism test done to find out exactly how many calories my body burns - with that they told me a calorie range for losing, maintaining and gaining weight.  Its hard to say exactly what somebody needs since we are all so different... including different amounts bypassed, different surgeries, different activity levels.

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)

Extended TT, lipo, fat injections - 11/2011

BA/BL/Arm Lift - 7/2014

Scar revision on arms - 3/2015

HALO laser on arms/neck 9/2016

Thigh Lift 10/2020

Thigh Lift revision 10/2021

Unless you have your calorie needs calculated, it's really hard to give you a fast answer. It depends on your activity level and how many calories you burn. I didn't know I was as active as I am when i started this journey. I'm consuming 1700-2300 calories a day and maintaining below goal. Other people are limiting their calories to about 1000 calories a day and not losing quickly...It's an individual thing.  I use fitday and add custom foods to that.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Before Surgery: 214
Highest Weight: 240
Now: 125.6
Goal: 130

Have a look on my profile.  There are three recent separate posts giving information on how to calculate how manay calories you need in a day. To keep track of how many calories you are consuming, use one of the web sites - fitday .com for example, until you get the hang of doing it in your head. Hope this helps.
