Anyone have a good recipe for protein shakes??
i love pumpkin & make awesome SF pumpkin cookies :)
So i basically took that recipe, minus a few things & converted it into a shake.
its:
1 can canned pumpkin (not the pumpkin pie mix - straight pumpkin)
approx. 2 cups NF milk (depending on how thin you want it)
& a bunch of: netmeg, cinnamon, & pumpkin spice
I never "measure" anything - so everything is done to taste.
its makes about 1/2 of a 1 liter pitcher (say for iced tea or something).
i then dump it into smaller protein shaker w/ a couple of scoops of protein powder & some water & shake away.
i love it!!

Often a plain shake is too sweet...so I like to add tart berries...(strawberries, blueberries or black/red raspberries....Add a little crushed ice in the blender and a dollup of Greek yogurt or low carb yogurt for a little "oomph"....Then a dollup of sugar free whipped cream is nice too if you want to make a double batch for you and your honey or BF! I've been making them all week for my adult kids and their friends who have been visiting...This is my way of giving them dessert and stopping them from bringing home donuts and cookies! They all are loving a "milk shake" every night! LOL
I add all of that to a vanilla whey/soy blend by EAS made with Lactose free milk or unsweetened soymilk....
I was thinking of starting with a vanilla shake and adding a few pieces of apple or some NSA applesauce, crushed ice.... SF caramel topping (Smuckers makes one for ice cream) and some cinnamon and dash of black pepper for a little kick. Haven't actually tried that one yet...maybe tomorrow...
I would never use an RTD. Too expensive, lower quantity than ones I can make with powder. Too much volume.
Any of these are what I use:
1.) Champion ProScore 100 choco + 8 oz water + ice, blended (hand blender or Magic Bullet).
2.) Champion Pure Whey Stack choco + 6-8 oz water, shaken.
3.) IDS vanilla-cinnamon + "glop" of DaVinci sugar free caramel sauce + 8 oz water + ice, blended.
4.) the PWS chco + the van-cin (50/50) in about 10 oz ho****er, stirred or hand blender.
They deliver 30g protein, less than 3g sugar, less than 200 calories, when made with water.
Lately I've been adding a shake of cinnamon to my hot ones since cinnamon fights belly fat.
I always put 1 scoop of UpCal D powder in (500mg calcium citrate, 250 IU of vit D3).
